Take slow deep breaths to relax and calm your mind. When you do so, two sets of muscles work in tandem to bring air into your lungs and expel air out of your lungs.
When we breathe in, both rib muscles and diaphragm contract to expand your lung cavity to bring air in. When we breathe out, both rib muscles and diaphragm relax to collapse the lung cavity to expel air out of your lungs.
Oxygen from the air that we breathe in passes through the thin walls of the alveoli into the blood vessels. This oxygen is then transported throughout our bodies. At the same time, carbon dioxide in our blood also passes through the thin walls of the alveoli to be expelled out.

The esophagus or gullet is a muscular tube that connects our mouth to our stomach. Its function is to push food down using a wave-like contraction of muscles along its length. This action is called peristalsis.
Key note: Similar to the large intestine, no digestive juices are secreted in the gullet and no digestion takes place here.

Due to surface tension, a water droplet will always take the shape of a sphere because various intermolecular forces will draw the liquid particles together, pulling the particles along the surface toward the rest of the liquid.
This cohesive nature of water molecules also allows it to resist an external force on its surface. That is how a water-strider can glide along the surface of ponds and a pin can float if placed on the water gently.

Dear Students, is sand considered a liquid? It is easy to get confused because a handful of sand takes the shape of the container.

The deduction above is WRONG! It is important to remember that sand is a solid as each grain of sand has definite shape and definite volume. It only takes the shape of the container because a grain of sand is small and many can fit into the container.
