Young Scientists Solar Car
Sunny days ahead! This is a great chance to bring out the solar car to the outdoors. It is best to try out the solar car under strong sunlight preferably between noon till about 3pm. The rays during this time carries the strongest solar energy that is suffient to power the solar cells in the panel.
The morning sun and the evening sun does not have enough solar energy to power the solar cells. Neither do overcast weather and cloudy skies as well because the clouds will reflect the rays back into space hence diminishing the solar energy that reaches the solar panel.
Snake Head Caterpillar
The larva of the Elephant Hawk Moth gets its name from the shape of its anterior which resembles an elephant trunk and this little fellow has a most interesting defense mechanism.
When startled, the caterpillar draws its 'trunk' into its foremost body segment. This posture resembles a snake with a large head and four large eye-like patches to frighten away any predator that tries to make a meal out of it.
