In case you haven't heard, the third instalment of the Singapore Vegan Festival (SVF) will be held next week, from 27th of August to 5th of September. We are told that the organisers have pulled out all the stops for this edition despite the ongoing challenges, and have planned a series of hybrid events featuring exciting physical activities, workshops, masterclasses, virtual classes and talks as well. Some of the key personalities to look out for include Miyoko Schinner, Founder & CEO of Miyoko’s Creamery in the United States, 2-MICHELIN Starred Chef Emmanuel Stroobant, Executive Chef Damian Piedrahita of 4MY, and Chef Addis Tan owner of HRVST Bistro. Anyone else sees the similarities?

On , we remember and honor the Black mamas who were forced to nurse and raise White babies to the death of their own. We remember the little lives that were so loved and wanted.

“I wish I dried up
I wish every drop of my milk slipped passed those pink lips and nourished the ground
Where the bones lay
Of my babies
Starved while I feed their murderer
I wish I dried up
So the missus babies would dry up too
And be brittle
So I could crumble them to dust
Return them to the ground
Where all children of my bosom lay equal"

Much has happened since we stopped publishing VegVibe a few years ago. Halimah and Ganga have now moved to New Zealand to seek a better life for their children, and producing future issues is still a distant plan. In the meanwhile, you can't keep a creative person down for long, so Halimah has started a page to chronicle her culinary creations catered to our young children who are being raised exclusively on a vegan diet.

Too hilarious not to share...

We all know them.....

Something to share with all those people who will die if they don't have their meat, which is often heavily cooked and/or buried in a whole lot of herbs and spices.

Such sophisticated behaviour... how can we NOT respect these beings?

22/12/2016

Isn't it wonderful to live in a time when all we have to do to promote cruelty-free living is let the food speak for itself? When people say they 'need meat', what they really mean is they want the experience of eating meat. Today's vegan alternatives are able to give them that experience, and this removes the perceived barrier to doing the right thing (which, deep down, they want to do).

It's been almost 5 years since our last issue was released but the content continues to be a source of information for many in the community. One of the requests we often get has been the recipes in each issue. Well, we decided to compile the over 70 recipes together as one bumper issue for easy reference and hope that you can support us.

With interest in vegan cuisine growing, VegVibe‘s collection of recipes across 21 issues published between 2009 and 2012 still offers a great many ideas to keep your meals fresh and inventive. So here’s our compilation of all the recipes that we have had t...

We've met this lady and can vouch for her as an amazing chef. Worth supporting this venture because if she can make it to her first cafe, rest assured there will be a chain of such cafes in Auckland, New Zealand, soon after.

Sometimes it just feels like everything we do is in vain. Even green energy tools such as solar panels and wind turbines require rare earth minerals which produce significant toxic waste.

Hidden in an unknown corner of China is a toxic, nightmarish lake created by our thirst for smartphones, gadgets and green tech, discovers Tim Maughan.
