Idag den 22 maj minns vi ett av de största helgonen, S:ta Rita av Cascia. Hon hade inget lätt liv. Turister som besöker pilgrimskyrkan Santa Rita i Cascia får idag denna hälsning på vägen:
Här i kyrkan och i S:ta Ritas kloster möter du starka och stimulerande krafter (...) Livet självt öppnar vägen för oss till lyckan i Gud. Må du ha den heliga Ritas ögon, hoppets vidöppna blick. Hon var ung, en flicka i ett samhälle fullt av fällor. Hon blev hustru, men inte alltid lycklig; mor, men inte utan bekymmer; änka och ensam efter sina barns död. Som nunna led hon av dålig hälsa, men i sitt lidande såg hon en kärleksfull försyn som ville använda henne som ett instrument för mänsklighetens befrielse, i nära kontakt med Jesus. I centrum för hennes liv stod inte hon själv, utan andra. Livet är vackert, men inte för att det är lätt (...) Det är vackert om man lever det i godhet, och det är alltid möjligt. Detta är den heliga Ritas stora nådegåva. Hjälp henne att föra den vidare till dig. Ditt hus kommer att bli ett lyckligt hem.

S:ta Rita (Margarita) föddes omkring 1381 i Roccaporena i Appenninerna nära Cascia och Spoleto i regionen Umbrien i Italien. Hon döptes två dagar senare i Santa Maria della Plebe-kyrkan i Cascia. Hon kom från en bondfamilj och hennes föräldrar Antonio och Amata Lotti var kända för sin välg...

Den Helige Fadern har antagit ett mycket personligt
förhållningssätt till kommunikation.

Påvens medieblitz - inklusive hans nyligen sända intervju med CBS' 60 Minutes - är en del av ett konsekvent mönster hos de moderna påvarna när det gäller att använda sig av social kommunikation och medier. Påven Franciskus är dock unik i sin medvetna och aggressiva användning av intervjuer för TV, radio, tidningar och tidskrifter. Intervjuerna och publikationerna är så vanliga att de onekligen är en del av en medveten personlig kommunikationsstrategi som är kopplad till hans bredare ledarstil och hans reformprogram för kyrkan. 🕊️ Today, Pope Francis will preside over the delivery and reading of the Bull of Convocation for the 2025 Jubilee at St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican.

📜 What is the Jubilee Bull?
It's the official document capturing the spirit and intention behind the Jubilee, as well as the outcomes hoped for by the Holy Father. The bull will also specify the duration, opening and closing dates, and how the 2025 ordinary Jubilee, themed "Pilgrims of Hope," will unfold.

🗓️ This significant event, expected to bring over 30 million people to Rome, will begin on December 24, 2024, and conclude on December 14 of the following year. It marks the second Jubilee of Pope Francis' pontificate, following the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy in 2015.

📅 A Brief History of the Jubilee:
The first Jubilee celebrated by the Catholic Church occurred in 1300, initiated by Pope Boniface VIII. Initially intended every 100 years, the frequency was adjusted to every 33 years, reflecting Christ's earthly lifespan, and then in 1450, it was set to every 25 years, allowing each generation its Jubilee.

🚪 The most well-known ritual of the Jubilee is the opening of the holy doors at Rome's four Major Basilicas: St. Peter's Basilica, St. John Lateran, St. Paul Outside the Walls, and St. Mary Major.
