First Lover/Actor (scrutinising his script): “The posey little prince has long, long soliloquies too, I see. But maybe I can cut a little in them, Will? And, put in some action. This one, for example… 'To be, or not to be ...' Jesus – what a prattling emo boy!"
Will (anxious, but still approval-seeking): "But the whole point of this play is that Hamlet thinks a lot..."
First Lover: "Yes, but think of the audience. This way, they’ll fall asleep.”
Will: "Yes, but..."
First Lover (reads on, with eraser pen in hand): ' To die, – to sleep’ – oh yes, they will, it’ll be a grand yawn party in the entire salon, if they’d have to listen to this type of low level college jazz. Cut, cut, cut! 'To be or not to be' and so on, hm, pseudo-intellectual prattle about death, etcetera, and blabblabla more pretentious w**k, cut! Insert: Awesome fencing fight scene. (grand fencing move) Show, don’t tell, Will!!”

The First Lover/Actor (eyeing the manuscript): "This feels pretty dark, Will. I thought you said it was a comedy? About a pretentious prince? Strikingly similar to your lover at court, I must say…(eyeing Will)"
Will (averts his gaze): “Yes… A black comedy. About…a would-be writer who is forced by his circumstances to do other things. But I don’t know if it is clear enough in the text… The finances of this theatre sure enough keep me from laughing." (stares at the few coins on his desk)
First Lover (lightheartedly): “We’ll solve it on stage. Don’t worry. We should all laugh a bit more, all of us here in our theatre. When did you last laugh, Will? At home with dear Anne in Stratford, maybe? Or when your pompous Southampton put out his theory about the energies of the universe the other night: 'Love equals gravity and thus is the thing that holds the world together'? Then I laughed, at least.”
The Primadonna (without looking up): "Money is what holds love together. You’d think the Earl would know that."

We support this! An important both practical and symbolical initiative.

"Because the time has come to speak out, and because there must be zero tolerance with sexual harassment or abuse of any kind, the Festival de Cannes, in partnership with the French Ministry of Gender Equality, has decided to take a firm approach to preventing sexual harassment, and to stand shoulder to shoulder with victims.
To do this, a special telephone hotline has been set up, on +33 (0)4 92 99 80 09, and will be available from the opening day, Tuesday 8 May. The initiative is designed to help people who have experienced sexual harassment or physical or emotional abuse, by offering appropriate support.
By calling this number, victims can share their experience with Festival teams, who will listen, offer support and, if desired, provide guidance and assistance for any important next steps (going to the police station or the hospital). The caller can also be put in touch with a victim support charity.
The Festival de Cannes provides this telephone service from today until 19 May 2018, from 9am to 2am.
