Notice of Peaceful Demonstration in German Against Human Rights Abuses in Uganda (January 13th, 2024)Dear Members of the Ugandan Community and Friends of Uganda in Germany,We would like to inform you about an upcoming peaceful demonstration organized by the NUP German Chapter to raise awareness about the prevailing human rights abuses in Uganda. The objective is to draw attention to the alarming cases of abduction, forced disappearances, and prolonged detention of political prisoners at the hands of the Museveni regime.Details of the Demonstration:- Date: January 13th, 2024- Time: 15:00 to 19:00 pm- Venue: Karl-Stutzen-Platz 8033, MünchenBackground:The Ugandan diaspora plays a crucial role in advocating for the rights and dignity of our fellow citizens back home. We believe that as development partners, Germany also holds a significant responsibility to ensure that the resources of German taxpayers are not used to oppress the Ugandan people.Germany's Role in Uganda:Germany, through its bilateral cooperation, focuses on various sectors crucial for sustainable development in Uganda, including agriculture, renewable energy, good governance, human rights, and job creation. The German Government, as a major contributor to multilateral organizations, indirectly supports Uganda's development through substantial contributions to the European Development Fund, World Bank, African Development Bank, and United Nations development activities.Our Call to Action:We urge all Ugandans and friends of Uganda in Germany who advocate for the rights and dignity of our fellow citizens to join this demonstration.
