𝗟𝗙𝗔 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 - 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 - The Liberian Football Association is set to conduct elections in 2026 to choose a new president.

Leading up to the 2026 election, attention is focused on the incumbent president, Mustapha Raji, who is vying for a third term, while Cassell Kuoh is working towards meeting the eligibility requirements for the race.

As per the FA's election criteria for presidential candidates, individuals are required to have a clean criminal record, a provision that many believe puts Cassell Kuoh at a disadvantage for now.

The circumstances surrounding Cassell's criminal record, which has become a barrier, stem from his conviction in the USA, where he served a seven-year sentence for financial offenses.

Following his time in prison, Cassell Kuoh returned to Liberia, where he established a football academy and brought FC Fassell back into the Liberian league, now serving as the club's CEO and president.

Criticism has been aimed at the Liberian FA for permitting Cassell to hold the position of club president without conducting a background check.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗙𝗔) 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗲𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗯 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀. 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗿.

𝗖𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗔.

There are speculations that Raji, who satisfies the FA's election criteria with a clean record, is working diligently to secure every corner and vote to ensure that the zero-criminal-record requirement remains a part of the election criteria.

Reports indicate that Cassell Kuoh has been in discussions with prominent legal experts and figures in Liberian football regarding his aspiration to run for the FA presidency in 2026.

He has been advised to seek legal clarity through the Supreme Court, emphasizing the protection of all Liberians and institutions under the Liberian constitution.

Associates of the current FA president, Mr. Raji, have suggested that if Cassell fulfills the FA's election criteria, he will be allowed to run in the election.

𝗖𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝟬.𝟬𝟬% 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗔 𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 - 𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗔 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀.

𝗖𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗹'𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗔 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘂𝗽𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘃𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀.

The central question remains whether the court will compel the FA to remove the zero-criminal record requirement for elections or if Cassell Kuoh will have to navigate the FA Congress to bring about this change.

𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗶𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗮 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗲-𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲.
