US Returns $52 million from Ex-Minister Diezani'S Assets

The Nigerian government has received $52.88 million in assets linked to former Petroleum Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke , which were recovered from the United States.

During the formal signing ceremony of the asset agreement between Nigeria and the United States in Abuja on Friday, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, made this announcement.

In his speech, Fagbemi said that $50 million of the recovered assets will be allocated through the World Bank for the rural electrification initiative, while the remaining $2 million will be directed to the International Institute of Justice to enhance the justice system and combat corruption.

In his remarks, the United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Richard Mills , urged the government to monitor and effectively use the recovered assets by the Ministry of Justice to ensure they benefit the Nigerian populace.

Padhic Deng is a young disabled person living in Tuele Goi, Pannyok Payam, Twic County, Warrap. Due to his condition, he cannot eat, bathe, or move independently.

We kindly appeal to the Twic Mayardit community, good Samaritans, and generous supporters to assist Padhic by providing him with a wheelchair. This would greatly improve his quality of life. While he may also need further support, a wheelchair would be a crucial first step.

Letโ€™s all come together to help him in this time of need. Remember, disability is not inability.

Just in: The Minister of Petroleum Hon. Pout Kang Choul has announced the official Resumption of oil production on 8th-jan-2025 through Sudanese Pipelines.

On behalf of the Ministry of Petroleum, I am pleased to announce the resumption of Dar Petroleum Operating Company (DPOC) operations in Blocks 3 & 7, effective January 8, 2025. Following the resolution of pipeline and security concerns and the lifting of force majeure, we are restarting operations with the full support of our international partners, CNPC, SINOPEC, and SSTO. We thank them for their continued collaboration.

This restart will have a significant positive impact on South Sudan's economy. DPOC and Bashier Pipeline Company (BAPCO) have been instructed to commence operations immediately. We thank the people of South Sudan for their patience and understanding during this period. This is what Pout Kang wrote on his official page.

Vice President Hussein Abdelbagi Akol and Warrap State Governor Francis Marial Abur Bol visited the Akon International Airport construction site to assess progress.
During the inspection, Vice President Hussein clarified that the airport itself had not been flooded, contrary to speculation circulating on social media.

He called on the local community to cooperate with the engineers as construction continues, emphasizing the importance of collective support for the successful completion of the project.

Warrap Governor Francis Marial echoed the significant of having the airport that would boost local trade and development.

The advance team/delegation of Adiang Community Leadership in Juba for the conference, arrived in Wunrok- on 26th this month.

The team briefed the linkage government, community leader, Hon. Gateno Nyuol Atem Lok, Paramount Chief, Executive Chiefs, Sub-Chiefs Intellectuals, Youths , Women and many others on the official onset of the conference. The sitting overwhelmingly welcomed and supported the initiative.

To my conviction, yesterday afternoon.. our most respected Community Leader in the name of Hon. Gateno Nyuol surprised the media with information contrary to the agreed point by the above categories. His actions caused mix public reactions . As per this afternoon, the County Commissioner formed a committee led by Executive Director to investigate and address the issue.

In the meeting attended by community elders, chiefs , intellectuals, youths, women and many others regretted for the decision made by our Community Leader minus the consensus of the categories who attended the meeting. The conference will officially commence tomorrow, the 30th- Dec, 2024.
