MARAKUJA is a platform where passionate people can expose their work. MARAKUJA is developing to be a home for those who are passionate about their living and aim to live in a harmonious way with themselves and with nature. MARAKUJA is growing up to be an entity which provides the necessary tools, spaces, workshops, inspiration and business-art connections, where artists, entrepreneurs, inquisitive
minds create products and services that provoke the society as a whole to become more responsible citizens, that dare to dream and turn ideas into real functional and inspirational instruments for the society they live in and prosper. MARAKUJA is a social enterprise whose aim is to promote culture, environment and empower artists in Rwanda and all over East Africa. Our mission: to promote mutually beneficial, equitable and sustainable business-arts partnerships, relationships, products and services that are beneficial to the whole of society by being relevant and sustainable in the long term. Our goal is to enable artists to sustain themselves out of their arts and skills by providing a free working space for them, where they would also be able to learn, teach, exhibit and be inspired. MARAKUJA entertains, educates and acts as a tool for artists enabling them to have a free space to work, train, be inspired, and sell their art. However, beyond being an instrument, a physical and digital space, a recycling movement, MARAKUJA is a philosophy in the sense that everything we do is driven by the need to be a catalyst of change: there is always a solution, make it happen! MARAKUJA is a space where ideas are turned into actions and dreams into possibilities. MARAKUJA is a cultural hub, a design workshop, a pop-culture magazine, a free-style cuisine, a kids place to develop skills and imagination, a stage for expression and mutual exchange. MARAKUJA is to become a social movement through our actions empowered together. The founders...
Irina Bara Gรขciu and Natacha Muziramakenga are two artists with a strong social communication and cultural management background that met in Rwanda in 2013 and naturally condensed their dreams and passions into one. MARAKUJA is born during a long conversation between a photographer, a poet, a dancer, a writer, a painter, a musician, a cooker, a designer, basically two personalities that express their life experiences in all the ways they can possibly think of, with no real borderlines, but one state of mind: passion for life. From this conversation the necessity of turning everything into reality became ultimately necessary, as their need was obviously shared with a larger group of people in search for the same thing: a space for the free expression to develop and grow.
