Dear colleagues,
we are happy to announce that the full contents of the latest issue of the Journal (No. 19/1-2, 2021) are now available in Open Access mode at the regular site of The Journal (http://jolr.ru/). Printed copies will soon be available from RSUH Publishers and Gorgias Press.
The first issue of the Journal (19/1) is fully dedicated this time to Indo-European and, specifically, Anatolian studies: a discussion between S. P. Leonard and T. A. Mikhailova on the semantics of Indo-European terms for horses, and two papers on the historical sociolinguistics of Anatolian languages (by A. Mouton / I. Yakubovich, and B. Obrador-Cursach).
The second issue (19/2) goes outside Indo-European territory, with a large paper on possible Euskaro-Caucasian traces in Ancient Greek (by J. Bengtson and C. Leschber), and two papers on historical African linguistics - the first part of a large lexicostatistical survey on Tuu (= South Khoisan) languages, by G. Starostin, and a hypothesis on an interesting situation of ancient contact between Mande and Atlantic languages (by N. Sumbatova and V. Vydrin).

Dear colleagues,

the full contents of the latest issue of the Journal (No. 18/1-2, 2020) are now available in Open Access mode at the regular site of The Journal (http://jolr.ru/).

The first part of the issue (18/1) features two papers focusing on areal contact in the Ancient Near East - one (by Susanne Görke) discussing the integration of Sumero- and Akkadograms into Hurrian texts, and another one (by Rostislav Oreshko) dealing with the influence of Greek-Lycian relationships on some aspects of phonetic development in Italic languages, while P. Kocharov critically reviews the recent volume on Indo-Anatolian and Indo-Uralic hypotheses.

The second part (18/2) features more on quantitative and lexicostatistical aspects, with a paper by Fernando de Carvalho criticizing a recent phylogenetic classification of the Arawakan languages; a paper by George Starostin discussing the lexicostatistical evidence for the Nyimangic languages of the Nuba Mountains as part of the East Sudanic family; and a paper by M. Lorentz with new lexicostatistical data on the Min dialects/languages of the Sinitic family and an attempt to reconstruct the Swadesh wordlist for the Proto-Min ancestral state.

Dear colleagues,

despite a slightly longer than usual delay, the full contents of the latest issue of the Journal (No. 17/3-4, 2019) are now available in Open Access mode at the regular site of The Journal (http://jolr.ru/).

The first part of the issue (17/3) is quite thematically diverse, with papers on various diachronic issues in languages of the Americas (Totonacan), Asia (Uralic, Mongolic), and the Near East (Afro-Asiatic). The second part (17/4) is more specifically focused on various issues of Indo-European linguistics, with papers on Slavic, Indo-Aryan, Anatolian, and general Indo-European linguistics.

Please stay safe in these troubled times. The next issue of the Journal is scheduled to appear around June-July 2020.

Dear colleagues,

The full contents of the latest issue of the Journal (No. 17/1-2, 2019) are now available in Open Access mode at the regular site of The Journal (http://jolr.ru/).

The first part is once again a thematic mini-issue; this time, we cover the results of the international conference "Old Chinese and Friends" (Max Planck Institute for the Science of Human History, April 26-27, 2018). The issue features papers on various issues of the phonological reconstruction of Old Chinese (also including methodological aspects such as rhyme annotation) and its relations with other languages, both areal (loans into Old Vietnamese) and genetic (cognates in Tibeto-Burman languages).

The second part of the issue further expands on Sinitic-related issues with two papers discussing Chinese basic lexicon in a diachronic perspective and certain methodological aspects of the internal classification of Sinitic languages. The only non-Chinese-related material is a large paper on the reconstruction of the phonology and lexicon of the Je family (South America).

Overall, we believe that this issue will be of particular value to everyone interested in ongoing developments in the area of Chinese historical linguistics - and, to a slightly lesser extent, those interested in diachronic studies of Native American languages.

Dear colleagues,

The full contents of the latest issue of the Journal (No. 16/3-4, 2018) are now available in Open Access mode at the regular site of The Journal (http://jolr.ru/). The first part is a thematic mini-issue, covering the results of the international workshop "Beyond Lexicon: diachronic language contact on the structural and systemic
level" (University of Verona, April 2017); it features a number of papers discussing various aspects of areal contacts between Indo-European and other language families. The second part is also largely devoted to Indo-European studies and contains results of new research on Iranian, Indo-Aryan, Tocharian, and Hittite languages; an important exception is John Bengtson's large paper exploring the idea of distant genetic relationship between Basque and North Caucasian languages.

Дорогие коллеги,

в открытый доступ на регулярном сайте Вопросов языкового родства (http://jolr.ru) выложены все материалы по последнему номеру нашего журнала (16/3-4, 2018). Первая часть номера посвящена публикации результатов международной конференции "Beyond Lexicon: diachronic language contact on the structural and systemic level" (Веронский университет, апрель 2017 г.) по языковым контактам между индоевропейскими языками и другими семьями. Во вторую часть номера вошли в основном также статьи по индоевропеистике, вместе с новой работой Дж. Бенгтсона по обоснованию баско-кавказского языкового родства.
