🗞️ NEWS: Vettel, Button, Kubica linked with drives at JOTA 🤯
Three big names in motorsports have been linked to seats with Hertz Team JOTA for 2024, with reports confirming their conversations with the team.
Let’s look at them individually:
🇩🇪 VETTEL RETURN?: Sebastian Vettel has, in the last 48 hours, been confirmed as having “discussions” with the British team about a seat for 2024 – marking a return to racing since his retirement from F1 at the end of 2022.
After rumours emerged on Monday night, speaking to Autosport’s Gary Watkins, JOTA Team Boss Sam Hignett reiterated that there had in fact been a connection between his team and the four-time F1 champion.
JOTA has a strong connection to environmental work, an issue close to Vettel, which included the team hospitality largely running on renewable energies at the Le Mans 24h.
🇬🇧 KEEN BUTTON: Jenson Button has made no secret of his interests in returning to full-time racing – with a focus on sportscars.
The 2009 F1 champ has three Le Mans starts to his name, including this year with the Garage 56 Chevrolet modified Nascar which is said to have whetted his appetite for a return in the top class.
Button is also set to race at Petit Le Mans with customer 963 team JDC-Miller.
🇵🇱 KUBICA’S CALL: Robert Kubica is the third driver linked to JOTA for 2024. The current WRT WEC LMP2 driver was confirmed by Hignett to have been in on-going conversations with the team.
The Polish ace currently leads the WEC LMP2 championship having scored two race wins alongside Louis Deletraz and Rui Andrade in the #41 ORECA, and has enjoyed an extremely successful time in sportscars following his life-threatening accident over a decade ago.
Whilst a second 963 is set to see heightened backing from Hertz, it must be noted that Kubica brings significant financial backing from Orlen that could enhance JOTA’s position.
