Self-Efficacy and Optimism as Mediators of Perceived Stress in Adolescence

Published in: Eastern-European Journal of Medical Humanities and Bioethics Vol. 3 No. 1 (2019)

Authored by: Maria Belea

Abstract: The perceived stress of the adolescents in their daily lives gives valuable information regarding their attitude when encountering difficulties. Similarly, it provides insights on their level of contentment with their own lives. In this particular context, an array of resources which would allow them to cope with new situations that are inevitably caused by their development, becomes crucial.
This current research analyses the extent to which attitudes of self-efficacy and optimism influence teenagersโ€™ thoughts and coping methods with the unpredicted and stressful events that life can bring to their daily routine (Jerusalem & Mittag, 1995).
In order to get an understanding in depth of the research topic, a sample of 525 Romanian students including 186 boys (35,4%) and 339 girls (64,6%) aged between 15 to 18 years old (average age = 16; SD = 1,04) were selected for the purpose of this study. The researcherโ€™s hypothesis was based on the assumption that participants who demonstrate high levels of self-efficacy and optimism tend to evaluate problems as being less stressful while compared to those who scored lower percentages on these two attitudes. A quantitative methodology has been chosen to collect the data through the use of questionnaires including: the Problem Questionnaire (PQ), developed by Inge Seiffge-Krenke, the General Self- Efficacy Scale (GSE) by Jerusalem and Schwartzer (1992) and the Life Orientation Test-Revised developed by Carver and Scheier.
The results show that self-efficacy, the optimism level and resilience have a positive impact on how tasks are dealt with. Teenagers with strong attitudes of self-efficacy perceive themselves as being more capable of overcoming difficulties. They have a more optimistic perspective of situations, and they also tend to interpret life obstacles as challenges rather than threats, therefore focusing more on opportunities. On the other side, teenagers who scored low percentages on the self-efficacy and optimism analysis, seem to worry more and feel less proficient and capable when facing various tasks or stressful situations.

A Finding Study of Teachers Perspectives about Self-Education

Published in: Moldavian Journal for Education and Social Psychology Vol. 5 No. 1 (2021)

Authored by: Editha-Margareta Coศ™arbฤƒ, Camelia-Nadia Bran

Abstract: Self-education is defined as a conscious, intentional activity that an individual carries out for the formation or completion of his own person. The aims of self-education are set by the individual himself, and are in accordance with the requirements of society. As the individual progresses in age, self-education occupies an increasingly important place in his training process. In the case of teachers, self-education is the subject of education, but also its object.
We developed this finding study to identify the degree of concern of 72 teachers in the pre-university education system regarding their own training, their participation in forms of lifelong learning organized by education systems, respectively the technique by which the self-education process is performed. In this regard, we completed a three-section questionnaire that was applied through the Google form. As a temporary reference space, these data were collected by reference to the last 3 years of teaching activity. Preliminary results of the study highlighted the fact that teachers agree more to asynchronous training courses.

Developing a Competency-Based Model in Relation to the Training Needs of Adult Learners

Published in: Moldavian Journal for Education and Social Psychology Vol. 5 No. 1 (2021)

Authored by: Iulian-Ciprian Bertea

Abstract: The aim of the paper is to develop an innovative model of learners ' skills from the perspective of adult education. Several categories of skills are involved, as a result of the current holistic approaches in the field of adult education, as well as in connection with the current requirements of society. At the core of the model are several categories of skills, such as communication, scientific, intercultural, entrepreneurial, social and digital. Each type of competence provides the adult learner with the knowledge, skills, values and behaviors to determine professional success. The novelty of the work results from the determination of the categories of skills in accordance with the training needs of adult learners, which ensures their optimal integration in the socio-professional level.

Power-Hungry Characters in Serbian Comedy

Published in: Moldavian Journal for Education and Social Psychology Vol. 5 No. 1 (2021)

Authored by: Nevena Jevtiฤ‡ Trifunoviฤ‡

Abstract: Every literary work is a complex work of art that aspires to originality, authenticity and individuality. As a subtype of drama, comedy affects the process of shaping its actants with its attributes and conventions. Our research is based on a review of the comedies written by the Serbian writers and the unification of literary-theoretical hypothesis about power-hungry characters. The common theme of the analyzed comedies is power as the key to the transformation of comic characters and the reason for their abandonment of normal life. Power and authority lead characters to act immorally and unreasonably, and unsuccessful attempts to achieve their goal at any cost often bring their lives to the brink of meaninglessness, and make their actions tragicomic. As an outspoken opponent of bureaucrats and people who hide behind the authority and power for the sake of personal gain, Serbian writers found inspiration in the generally present human deformations. Therefore, it is completely normal and natural for the police to be corrupt and semi-literate in their comedies, just as it is completely natural and normal for voters to be bribed before the parliamentary elections, and for private and personal life to become an arena of political struggle for the sake of small goals. The reason for choosing their comedies was affected by the fact that the humor is alive, present, and popular even today as it was during their lifetime. Healthy and eternally young laughter, colorful characters, comic portrayal of human and social flaws (petty-bourgeois mentality, selfishness, love of power, false morals, flattery, snobbery) are the features of their literary works that make them contemporary at any time.

The Importance of the Inclusion of Intercultural Diversity

Published in: Moldavian Journal for Education and Social Psychology Vol. 5 No. 1 (2021)

Authored by: Bisera Jevtiฤ‡, Danijela Miloลกeviฤ‡

Abstract: The key issue is how to build an educational system that respects individual diversity while ensuring that diversity is included as much as possible in accordance with our conditions and capabilities. Searching for the structure of commitment, we wanted to diagnose the current state of variables that determine the current predictors that encourage and facilitate the inclusion of intercultural diversity of individuals as well as predictors that prevent equal approach for all cultures in the educational system. The interculturalism limited only on supporting or respecting diversity, will not yield significant results if it does not try to find the conditions for the development of this diversity. Social distance as a product of confrontation might have bad influence on the power of individual consciousness, an important prerequisite for intercultural identity, which is fundamentally built only by communication between two different parties - representatives of different cultural identities, who strive to become an intercultural community. This paper aims to present and point out the importance of the development of consciousness as a prerequisite for intercultural identity and inclusion of intercultural diversity, as well as to point out that it is necessary to communicate regardless of the differences among us, because here lies the beauty of an intercultural identity that is hidden in diversity.

Cross-Curricular Topics of Contemporary Curricula in the Lower Grades of Primary School in the Republic of Croatia

Published in: Moldavian Journal for Education and Social Psychology Vol. 5 No. 1 (2021)

Authored by: Luka Pongraฤiฤ‡, Ana Maria Marinac

Abstract: Cross-curricular topics are topics that will instil in students from an early age universal values โ€‹โ€‹and competencies for action in modern society. There are seven cross-curricular topics in the Republic of Croatia: personal and social development, learning how to learn, civic education, health, entrepreneurship, the use of information and communication technology and sustainable development. The fundamental meaning of introducing cross-curricular topics into the teaching process is the adoption of topics of general human values โ€‹โ€‹and competencies for a dignified life in the 21st century. The methodology consists of analysis matrix of different cross-curriculum topics and outcomes that students in individual classes should achieve. The aim of this paper is to raise awareness of the importance of education for active and independent action within the community. Outcomes of interdisciplinary topics are realized in the teaching hours of all subjects. Regardless of the importance they carry within themselves, modern teachers often neglect cross-curricular topics, depriving students of knowledge and skills that would be useful to them in everyday life, in relation to themselves, their work and others.

Moldavian Journal for Education and Social Psychology invites you to read: Review of the volume โ€žTimpul in filosofie si stiintaโ€ [Time in philosophy and science], author: Andreea Elena Matic, Lumen Publishing House, 2017

Published in Vol.4 No. 1, 2020.

Authored by: Antonio Sandu

Abstract
The volume "Time in philosophy and science", published in 2017 by Lumen Publishing House from Iasi, Romania, is a meeting with the books and time, more precisely with time in philosophy and science, as the author, Andreea Elena Matic proposes us to agree on relativity, but also on the absolute of time. Time is an obsession of each of us because it is never enough for us. Time is personified as an incarnation of the divinity or, on the contrary, an incarnation of the infernal, of the less elevated area of us and of all the universe. We all have concerns about what time means in the area of magic, esotericism, science, about how to run away from its passage, or from our passage through time. Time is a fountain, time is an eternal return, time is safe and linear, an endless continuity of existence, time is what we all try to steal or lose.

Abstract
We have all realized that ample discussions about ethics and integrity occupy an important place in academia and beyond, as each of us had contact with issues raised by research ethics, either directly through our study or research interests or indirectly through the social behaviors with which we come into contract. All these have the merit of bringing to the public's attention rigorous debates that otherwise might be ignored, most often held in meetings of specialists from various university centers in Romania and sometimes with significant international participation. These topics are addressed in the volume โ€Eticฤƒ ลŸi integritate รฎn educaลฃie ลŸi cercetareโ€ [Ethics and integrity in education and research], coordinated by Antonio Sandu & Bogdan Popoveniuc, published in 2018 by Tritonic Publishing House.

Moldavian Journal for Education and Social Psychology invites you to read: Beauty in Diversity โ€“ Our Special Children

Published in Vol.4 No. 1, 2020.

Authored by: Catalina-Elena Valcea, Petruta-Raluca Suditu, Daniela-Georgeta Popescu

Abstract
The integration of the children with disabilities is a strong point of our kindergarten, which wants to ensure a warm and welcoming space for all the pupils, irrespective of their functional diversity, so they can achieve individual and social growth through the journey of the preschool cycle.
The true inclusive education happens from people and between people. Every teacher that works in any kindergarten or school must have the desire to accept the special children, to accept their uniqueness and respect their right to be different.
Knowing how to grasp and enhance the differences between children is indispensable in an effective educational environment, capable of bringing up the motivation, the energy and the engine of learning and gaining new acquisitions.
In order to be inclusive, we - teachers need to accept responsibility for special children learning and for their proper integration by using the most relevant methods and techniques, respecting every disabled childโ€™s needs. Our daily activity needs to be based on an individualized, calibrated and detailed work plan, built in a strong connection with to the needs, potential and skills of each pupil.
Being part of an international Erasmus+ Project and local partnerships on the subject, we become more skilled and opened in our work with special children and we strongly desire to spread our experience to our colleagues from Romania and Europe.
We want to put an end to all the stories of non-acceptance in the educational systems.

Published in Vol.4 No. 1, 2020.

Authored by: Gabriel Remus Suciu

Abstract
The story of โ€žThe Ship of Theseusโ€ lay at the foundation of one of the most intriguing paradox of any perspective of ego, self and identity. In this article, the story is told and retold in many different ways. Broadley, the story has three narators: Plutarch (who fuelled at least six variations and another three competitors of the main theme), Thomas Hobbes (whose readings of the story ignited the search for solutions to this paradox โ€“ solutions that are mainly logical) and I, Gabriel R. Suciu: my version shifts the question from โ€žHow to present the paradox?โ€ and โ€žHow to solve the paradox?โ€, to โ€žHow to build a paradox?โ€. Itโ€™s woth mentioning that a fourth version is also told, at the beginning of the article โ€“ the story told by the ship itself.

All over the world, the Roma continue to be shrouded in secrecy. Their way of life, habits, clothing, ornaments, etc. are aspects that remain unknown. Where do the Roma come from and what are they looking for in our country, how have they settled, are questions that most of the nations in which the Roma have settled, have asked themselves. Some have found the answers; others are still looking for them.

Responsibility as an Ethical Value

Published in Vol.4 No. 1, 2020.

Authored by: Mihai Amanoloae

Abstract
The individual thinking of each of us causes many of us to give up the utopian dreams of the human mastery over living conditions and the exercise of a new responsibility, in accordance with our new powers. Our ethical responsibility and our fateful ontological choice is to do what is necessary to ensure the continued, worldly integrity of mankind and it's continuity in an indefinite future, to ensure a good continuation of life between communities or even in the relations between the states of the world. We point out as a first example the ecological crisis and the moral crisis of transforming ecological behavior into a habit when humanity needs resources to survive. However, it is necessary to give recognition to researchers who claim that traditional systems of ethics do not have the resources to cope with our unprecedented technological powers, and the effort of all to fill the philosophical void but also the real, tangible and practically proven part of ethics with an "ethics of responsibility", it is something other than a simple daily habit.

Published in Vol.3 No. 1, 2019.

Authored by: Andra-Mirabela Adascalitei

Abstract
The aim of the present research has been to analyze how communication styles influence the personal predominant approaches of teachers in the event of a conflict broke out in the classroom. The participants were 46 teachers, from schools in Dorohoi and Darabani. The methods used were the standardized questionnaire "Communication style" (Solomon Marcus) and the adapted questionnaire of W.J. Kreidler. The present paper starts from the hypothesis that the use of persuasive messages correlates with the type of pedagogical approach in conflict resolution. The use of intervention strategies for classroom management largely depends on pedagogical tact and teacher skill. Conflict is part of school reality, but the teacherโ€™s ability to persuade may be defining in his regulation. Every pedagogical approach (of involvement, problem solving, of the compromised type, noninvolvement type, ignorance type) takes its place but is advisable like teacher to use persuasive communication in finding solutions according to goals and relationships.

Disability of the Child - Factor of the Risk of Social Exclusion of Parents (Experimental Research of Constatation)

Published in Vol.3 No. 1, 2019.

Authored by: Svetlana Haraz

Abstract
This research approach is based on the belief that addressing the challenges faced by parents who have children with disabilities in their care requires a thorough understanding of the attitudes that govern the daily behavior of people around them.

Parents who have a child with disabilities certainly live a multidimensional challenge that life has begun without the right to reproach. Moreover, regardless of the circumstances in which emotional suffering occurs, parents have to cope with the most difficult situations imagined. Social exclusion is not just a result of the circumstances of the moment, but also an impact on the prospective prospects of the affected person.

The phenomenon of social exclusion of parents who have children with disabilities in their care is a necessary social phenomenon to prevent, because at the moment it can not be avoided. In most cases, parents blame a great deal for their child's suffering. Self-emotional references, the need for difficult choices, and the attitude of society disfigure parents against the unknown, they use all their efforts and resources to overcome such situations. How many soul mishaps, hesitations and reconciliations with oneself and others are hiding behind this simple situation. In spite of maximal mobilization, it does so to one point.

Educational Policies and Curricular Perspectives in Early Education

Published in Vol.3 No. 1, 2019.

Authored by: Alina Anghel, Emil Lazar
Abstract
This paper is intended as an attempt to equally surprise both the notions of the conceptual apparatus and the historicity of early education from the Romanian perspective. This conceptual approach, respects and relates itself, to the European and worldwide pedagogical concepts, the way they are understood and promoted in the light of educational policies. The historical perspective aimed at the pedagogical and educational approach, from the Romanian point of view, is synchronous and diachronic, continuing the implicit testingsโ€™ of โ€žthe new educationโ€, an attempt to radiography this field/domain. Apparently, the authenticity and the innovation are synonyms, and conceptual, they are consonant. But the Romanian reality in the field of early education, may be and it is, authentic and innovating: authentic, based on the specific of educational policies, innovating, by the development and emergence of this segment of educational responsibility in Romania. Therefore, Romania offers and constitutes an example of good practice.
