in the news ๐Ÿ“ฐ: โ€It is a joy and an honour for us to be part of this editionโ€™s program, and we are glad that in the recent years we have been invited to take part in every edition. This feels natural, since our own evolution over the past 20 years has been a remarkable ascent, and we have represented Romania on many international stages. [โ€ฆ] The composer Mieczysล‚aw Weinberg, I could say, is like a sphere of light surrounded by darkness that we do not yet know.โ€ - Rฤƒsvan Dumitru, founding member of the Arcadia Quartet, in an interview for Antena 3 CNN.

The Arcadia Quartet can be seen on today, at the Romanian Athenaeum.

Join us for a celebration of legacy, where every note carries the memory of genius.

The exhibition ,,Nigredo" at the Galateea Contemporary Art 132, Victoriei Ave, Bucharest, Romania, between September 9th to October 5th, 2025, is an art exhibition recommended by Intell News Romania in English(media partner), consigned by Claudiu Victor Gheorghiu, Senior Editor of the bilingual press platform Intell News in Romanian and English, September 9, 2025

Press release:

Galateea Contemporary Art Gallery presents a fairy-tale ambience: the ceramic installation โ€œNigredoโ€ conceived by the visual artist Alina Tudor.
The artistic searches approach the alchemic concept nigredo, one of matterโ€™s decomposition stages preceding philosopherสผs stone, a moment of inner transformation in view of its rebirth.
Playing with clay and with objects taken from the childrenสผs universe, โ€˜decomposingโ€™ her souvenirs into symbols, the artist goes through a process of conversion. In this installation, Alina Tudor considers the nigredo stage a necessary phase of introspection, of becoming, of purification and spiritual rebirth.
The author remakes the game thinking that, in the becoming process, toys are defining, as they contribute to oneโ€™s identity modelling. A man stands out through his/her childhood games and dreams, the more as both game and dream link past to future, and the projections of the unconscious highlight a personality.
Just like with alchemists, Alina Tudorสผs studio stands for a laboratory in which, after passing through different stages, the ceramic material turns into a โ€˜universeโ€™ covered by ash. โ€œNigredoโ€ reactivates memory by connecting it with origins, with the dark earth.
Like the reborn from its own ashes of the Phoenix bird, a symbol of permanent renewal, the artist edifies a world of memories recoverable nowadays. And modelling, building, through game of the elements emotionally charged, helps deciphering some of the stages that prove essential in individual becoming.
Joining the patch of grass, the forest of ashy-grey trees with textured shades invites to meditation and dreaming, while the coloured toys and the drawings discovered among the different shades of black lure into play.

The exhibition โ€œI โ€“ self-portrait vs mirroringโ€ at the Galateea Contemporary Art 132, Victoriei Ave, Bucharest, Romania, between August 19th to September 5th, 2025. Is an art exhibition recommended by Intell News Romania in English(media partner), consigned by Claudiu Victor Gheorghiu, Senior Editor of the bilingual press platform Intell News in Romanian and English, August 13, 2025

Press release:

Galateea Contemporary Art Gallery presents the exhibition I โ€“ self-portrait vs mirroring, an informal get-together of a group of ceramic artists with different creative foci and practices who, however, share a language of expression that is derived from ceramic art and the creative possibilities it offers.
The exhibition brings together members of the Galateea Group (an initiative group that promotes contemporary Romanian ceramics) and guest artists who express themselves fluently through ceramics and constantly contribute to the development of the field. Visual artists Bianca BOEROIU, Adela BONAศš, Clara Dฤ‚Rร‚NGฤ‚, George DRAGOMIR TURIA, Lucia LOBONศš, Romana MATEIAศ˜, Nicolae MOLDOVAN, Alina TUDOR, Anca VINTILฤ‚ DRAGU, Iulian VรŽRTOPEANU and guests Maria CIOATฤ‚, David OLTEANU and Leontin ศšIBACOV challenge the viewer to engage in introspection and self-knowledge.
To look at yourself, to find and understand yourself, is to have a complex perception of life and its fundamental aspects. In the relationship with his own self, the individual is an observer, a fellow traveler and an accomplice in inner revolutions and rebellions. Whether as tool or as technique, the mirror reflects or absorbs the rays and waves that make up oneโ€™s unique personal chemistry. In doing so, it functions as both gateway to the inner self and catalyst for transformation. The theme is open but also personal, which is why - despite the group setting - the exhibition favors individual statements. It is a synthesis of ideas that, from a psychological perspective, opens up new, dynamic and effervescent perspectives. The artists create different but essentially unitary universes, offering an X-ray of lifeโ€™s complexity.
In a troubled sociopolitical context, art is survival in its purest form. From the self-portrait decalcomania or its photographic recording to abstract or even random transpositions of the perceived self, Galateea Contemporary Art invites the viewers to explore their own selves alongside the exhibiting artists.
The exhibition will run from August 19 to September 5, 2025.
The opening will take place on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at 7:00 PM in the presence of the artists.
