The exhibition “I – self-portrait vs mirroring” at the Galateea Contemporary Art 132, Victoriei Ave, Bucharest, Romania, between August 19th to September 5th, 2025. Is an art exhibition recommended by Intell News Romania in English(media partner), consigned by Claudiu Victor Gheorghiu, Senior Editor of the bilingual press platform Intell News in Romanian and English, August 13, 2025

Press release:

Galateea Contemporary Art Gallery presents the exhibition I – self-portrait vs mirroring, an informal get-together of a group of ceramic artists with different creative foci and practices who, however, share a language of expression that is derived from ceramic art and the creative possibilities it offers.
The exhibition brings together members of the Galateea Group (an initiative group that promotes contemporary Romanian ceramics) and guest artists who express themselves fluently through ceramics and constantly contribute to the development of the field. Visual artists Bianca BOEROIU, Adela BONAȚ, Clara DĂRÂNGĂ, George DRAGOMIR TURIA, Lucia LOBONȚ, Romana MATEIAȘ, Nicolae MOLDOVAN, Alina TUDOR, Anca VINTILĂ DRAGU, Iulian VÎRTOPEANU and guests Maria CIOATĂ, David OLTEANU and Leontin ȚIBACOV challenge the viewer to engage in introspection and self-knowledge.
To look at yourself, to find and understand yourself, is to have a complex perception of life and its fundamental aspects. In the relationship with his own self, the individual is an observer, a fellow traveler and an accomplice in inner revolutions and rebellions. Whether as tool or as technique, the mirror reflects or absorbs the rays and waves that make up one’s unique personal chemistry. In doing so, it functions as both gateway to the inner self and catalyst for transformation. The theme is open but also personal, which is why - despite the group setting - the exhibition favors individual statements. It is a synthesis of ideas that, from a psychological perspective, opens up new, dynamic and effervescent perspectives. The artists create different but essentially unitary universes, offering an X-ray of life’s complexity.
In a troubled sociopolitical context, art is survival in its purest form. From the self-portrait decalcomania or its photographic recording to abstract or even random transpositions of the perceived self, Galateea Contemporary Art invites the viewers to explore their own selves alongside the exhibiting artists.
The exhibition will run from August 19 to September 5, 2025.
The opening will take place on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at 7:00 PM in the presence of the artists.

Press release:

FLUID BOUNDARIES
Galateea Contemporary Art Gallery, 132 Calea Victoriei, Bucharest, invites you on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 7:00 PM, to the opening of the exhibition Fluid Boundaries by artist Anca Vintilă Dragu, curated by Anca Boeriu. The exhibition will be open from June 19 to July 15.
As I looked at Anca Vintilă Dragu’s works, I searched for the one word that might define her as an artist, as a woman. But I couldn't stop at just one. Instead, I found a string of words that could go on endlessly: calm, serenity, spirituality, openness, beauty, normality.
Anca is one of those artists who, even if you don’t know her personally, reveals herself completely, without any mask, through her ceramics. I don’t think I’ve ever encountered anyone so direct, so beautifully close and intertwined with their own works.
In these restless times, we gently step into the artist’s quiet, calm sanctuary, where she reveals to us a ritual of return, return to personal space, to the stillness of a gravitational moment, to that state of grace she describes as rare and precious, when everything aligns and the mind begins to float.
A visit to her creative universe immerses us in this world of silence. We are drawn to approach her pieces gently, to follow them with our eyes—from figurative forms to metaphorical ones that briefly transport us to the vastness of the sea. And there, through light, sound, and scent, we are held in a moment of introspection. Anca’s searches, her emotions and questions, become our own.

Curator: Anca Boeriu
Lecturer PhD, Graphic Arts Department
National University of Arts, Bucharest

Fluid Boundaries – A metaphor for personal space and for the fluidity of the self in transformation and change.

In the nearness of the sea, there are moments of introspection, melancholy, emotional stirring, and healing, experiences that the sea brings to the surface. Personal space, for me, is a fleeting sanctuary sketched with gentle gestures, an open-air chamber of purification, where the borders between body and landscape dissolve.
The circle created by the porcelain buoys mark a state of grace, that rare and precious moment when everything aligns and the mind floats in quiet suspension, a white, weightless, ephemeral space. These floating forms, though created to resist sinking, rest quietly on the sand, surrendering for a moment to gravity, to silence, pausing in stillness after having braved the sea’s turmoil.
The work becomes an attempt to hold this state: a visual meditation on stillness, on moments when time seems to slow down. This is a space of solitude, a silent ritual where the external fades and the self, intuition, begins to speak. There is no defined center, but a presence forms, like a breath.
This circle is the personal territory, an opening rather than a boundary, sculpted from the materials of the sea, the shore, and the self.
