As part of our new research project, Meaningful Intercultural Encounters Across Boundaries, on Saturday, October 17th, we organized an International Seminar having as topic Rethinking Borders and Boundaries. The Seminar was not only a brilliant academic event, but as much a powerful answer to the provocations brought by the nowadays crisis. We can say, more or less, that we are now living in a kind of post-globalized world, when new trends and new stakes are raising. From the presentations made we could develop a better picture of these fast and unexpected global changes. Yet, the time of these challenges is also a time when the importance of reflection, philosophical and not only, is more important and ever, since is able to understand the many faces, the risks and the dangers of this epidemic crisis. Science can provide insights, and is able to develop technologies and medical treatments, but is not able to provide an overall perspective and to depict an understanding on how humans, as extraordinary complex beings, are affected, and to provide a different kind of solutions and remedies, at other levels than biological. We need, no less, these kinds of answers and solutions, given by the philosophical refection and hermeneutics, raising from cultural and spiritual traditions, from wisdom.
The presentations made at the Seminar were significant contributions to this much needed approach to a crisis to much seen just as medical or economic.
