An extremely rare recording of a Morbid Angel concert (New Jersey 1989) crossed our path and so we decided to put some effort into sharing this recording with the world! David Vincent, was happy to grant permission for this limited LP, making this an official bootleg!

This showcases one of the first times the legendary album “Altars of Madness” was presented live onto a young and hungry Death Metal scene. This the Morbid Angel we grew up with! The most devilish music that existed back then, and until now has rarely been matched!
These are the tracks that served as a cornerstone for every fu***ng subsequent Black and Death Metal release!!

This is pure Death Metal history in vinyl form!!

Wormthrone: Enlightened Through Darkness (2024) - mini-review

Portuguese band Wormthrone are out with the album "Enlightened Through Darkness", and metal is the style explored on this production. It is the extreme variety of the form that is taken on here, and in a manner that balance out primal elements and aggression with a more elegant layer of finesse. The vocals are dark, distorted and placed down in the mix, while the guitars and the drums alternate between more uptempo and frantic attacks and slower paced excursions with more of a thrash metal and even borderline heavy metal expression. All along with a bit of a raw and primal character to the sound aesthetics, albeit with backing effects being in place on some songs that adds an elegant and often majestic feel to the landscapes explored. Contrasting this are the guitar solo runs, that have a tendency to be both sharp and cutting. That we get some more careful and atmospheric laden interludes merits a mention too, and these sections does add a touch of elegance to the proceedings as well. A production to seek out if an old school and primal sounding variety of extreme metal with a bit of an elegant expansion and a bit of finesse strikes you as an interesting variety of the form to become more familiar with.
