CordaSonora In years, the content creation grew into a record label and photography/video production tailored for each formation.

CordaSonora, found by Esin Yardimli Alves Pereira and Ricardo Alves Pereira, began with the purpose of providing artistic and promotional material for ensembles the two musicians were participating in, extending from early music to jazz. CordaSonora team believes in artistic independence. Ricardo reflected this on his solo classical guitar career through Musical Narratives, a technique to redefine

the concept of concert repertoire and storytelling, and Esin expanded her career as a violinist from metal to jazz to world music and composing, aside from her international classical training. Their search for independence merged together in the first ensemble they became founding members of; the TWB ensemble recorded their first LP with the recording gear Esin obtained through winning the Outstanding Talent Award from the Keep An Eye Foundation for her participation as the concert-master of the Jong Metropole 2017 project that lead to her investment in music production and sound engineering. This became the beginning of a journey that is getting better by the minute. The CordaSonora philosophy is about presenting the product from a 100% authentic and autonomous channel; which is why not only the audio production but the visual content presented in this page are provided by the musicians themselves.

Momentos de “Da esteyra vermelha cantarey”, o 2º evento do CMML2025. Uma performance única de poesia musicada, onde a música medieval se alimentou da maior voz do heavy metal do país, o convidado especial do ciclo, Fernando Ribeiro , que recitou Cantigas de Escárnio e Maldizer. Em uníssono, o titã do metal, poeta e escritor, e os medievalistas e diretores do CMML, Esin Yardimli Alves Pereira e Ricardo Alves Pereira, protagonizaram um espetáculo satírico e provocador, que uniu a tradição trovadoresca à modernidade do século XXI, e que celebrou a liberdade de expressão.
Expressamos a nossa profunda gratidão ao público que esteve connosco, tornando este evento verdadeiramente especial, assim como agradecemos ao e ao pelo seu inestimável apoio na realização do CMML2025.

Scorn and Mockery: A Metal Heavyweight Gives Voice to Medieval Kings’ Songs

The vocalist of MOONSPELL, Fernando Ribeiro, will recite poetry by King Dinis, Alfonso X, and other troubadours and minstrels, accompanied by musicians from the TWB Ensemble, this weekend at Leiria Castle.

The poems of escárnio e maldizer (scorn and mockery) are attributed to King Dinis, his grandfather King Alfonso X of Castile, and other troubadours and minstrels who lived hundreds of years ago in the 13th and 14th centuries. The voice that will bring them to life at Leiria Castle is that of the vocalist of Moonspell, a gothic metal band with a long international career that began in Brandoa.

We held the second lecture and rehearsal of the DMMB Community Choir, where a lovely group of singers gathered, motivated to learn to sing medieval music from the Iberian Peninsula.
We were also visited for the second time by Camila, the resident kitten of the Batalha Monastery, who stayed and listened to us until the end of the rehearsal!

Realizámos a segunda palestra e ensaio do Coro Comunitário do DMMB, onde se reuniu um bonito grupo de cantores e cantoras motivados para aprender a cantar música medieval da peninsula ibérica.
Visitou-nos também por segunda vez a Camila, gatinha residente do Mosteiro da Batalha, que ficou a ouvir-nos até ao fim do ensaio!

📍 Monastery of Batalha

Who can participate?
Everyone! The workshop is designed to ensure that each participant completes their instrument, regardless of their experience with woodworking or manual crafts.

What do I need to bring?
Nothing! All materials will be provided, from the wood to accessories like strings, tuning pins, waxes, and finishing products.

Do I get to keep the psaltery I build?
Yes! At the end of the course, you will take home your fully completed and functional instrument. In addition to experiencing the entire building process, participants will have the opportunity to showcase their instruments in the final presentation, part of the closing concert of Dias de Música Medieval da Batalha – 2025 (DMMB2025).

The psalteries built in the Violaria Medieval workshop will be based on the depictions of musician angels from the Monastery of Batalha’s portal.

Quem pode participar?
Todas as pessoas! A oficina foi desenhada para que se concretize o instrumento, independentemente do nível de experiência com trabalhos manuais ou trabalhos com madeira.

O que preciso trazer?
Nada! Serão fornecidos todos os materiais para a concretização dos instrumentos, desde as madeiras até aos acessórios, como as cordas, pinos de afinação, as ceras e produtos usados para o acabamento final

Fico com o saltério que construí?
Sim! No final do curso, f**a com o seu instrumento terminado e completamente funcional. Para além do instrumento e da experiência de todo o processo da sua construção, poderão participar na apresentação final dos resultados integrada no concerto de encerramento do Dias de Música Medieval da Batalha - 2025 (DMMB2025).

Os saltérios da oficina Violaria Medieval serão construídos a partir das representações dos anjos músicos do pórtico do Mosteiro da Batalha.

The 21st Century Troubadours

Long, long ago, four adventurers from three far away lands, journeyed to the low countries of the Netherlands in search of honor. One day, they met on the entangled channels of Amsterdam and took the quest of their life, as the storytelling Early&Folk music group 'The Wandering Bard'.

Inspired by the traditions of bards, these 21st century troubadours turn concerts into stories. The Wandering Bard build their concert style around an interpretive methodology their guitarist developed called 'musical narratives' in which the performers themselves narrate their own musical intention.

Be they of castle or countryside, the group’s musical narratives are about people: from the mad King Henry VIII with his six wives, to the doomed romance between a 17th Century Scottish soldier and an English woman; The Wandering Bard tells stories about the human experience. Formed with members from Turkey, Portugal and United Kingdom, the group made a base in the UK, as the stories that they tell form a strong connection with the island's culture.
