Our favourite swimmingspot just below the Quinta is in danger. Where many of you enjoyed swimming and jumping.
There are plans to build a dam. We are doing everything we can to prevent it. We started a petition online and are at every market in the area collecting signatures on paper. Can you please sign? You have to fill in full name and the number of passport or ID.

We are having a different summer this year. No holiday guests but long term rentals. We welcomed a lovely family in Tres Tulips. They bring new energy and skills to the Quinta. We now do yoga twice a week and a new vegetable garden is in the make using permaculture principles. Inspiring and fun!
The kids enjoy swimming lessons in the pool and when we want to cool down even more we got to the river.
We met nice new people in our neighbour village who are setting up an Ayurvedic retreat place with yoga, massage and cooking classes. We enjoyed a Ayurvedic workshop and meal there Casa Vayu - House of Movement - Planet Ohm.

During the lockdown we had some lovely people staying with us for months. We had some nice party's together. We celebrated the opening of our outdoor kitchen in the forest with a mexican lunch. The first pizza party of the year was also a succes. We are ready for summer!

Our lovely caravan is available for rent from the half of June. Come for a week or stay longer! ( Our recent guests stayed for 2,5 months and loved it.) If you want to stay in the middle of nature and enjoy the birds sing, go swimming in our pool or walk down to the river for a refreshing dip, this is the place for you! Take a look on our website.

New perspectives.

The fun of having people stay for a long time is that they see and use the land differently and in new fun ways. We now have a campsite! Because of Corona our guests stayed for much longer than planned and decided to do a spring retreat. Getting up early, yoga in the yurt, sunrise on the terrace, a plant diet and ceremonies. Sleeping alone in tents and all in silence for 10 days. 7 participants 7 nationalities. A meditative journey. Sunday they finished and we celebrate with a dinner in the sun. 🙏🌞

Spring is so amazing. All these flowers! Roses all around and the smell is wonderfull. Last week a lady from the village visited us at the Fontanheira. She stayed here with her grandparents when she was a girl 70 years ago. She shared great memories with us and told us this pink rose is over 120 years old! She comes back every year one time to enjoy it. ❤️💚 Power of nature.

We feel very lucky that in these strange times we have a yoga teacher staying with us. And a lovely yurt to practice in. After lessons for the adults she took the challenge to create a kids yoga class. We had so much fun and the space of the yurt is already so inviting to play! The youngest participant was 1,5. The parents were monkeys, elefants and lions and the kids loved it. Hope everybody is staying happy & healthy!

Today is Palm sunday. Domingo dos Ramos. Traditionally there is a procession through our village where the palmbranches are blessed. Not today. We made our own branches with Olive, Bay leaves, willow and Rosemary and brought one to the village shop/cafe. Happy sunday everybody! 💚

The last weeks we had great fun doing a grand make over on this caravan. It turned into a great spot to stay and we never expected we would alreay welcome our first guests now. Check it out.

This lovely caravan is getting a make over! We are working hard to make it into a very cozy place to stay with a nice outdoor kitchen. Together with our friends Marianne en Sam we now have professional builders on the Quinta. 💪🛠🌞

Und nein, du musst wirklich keine Modelerfahrungen haben!

Was allerdings wichtig wäre, ist, dass du großen Spaß daran hast, vor der Kamera zu stehen.

Außerdem solltest du in Wildlinge Größen 18-48 passen.

Yesterday was a beautiful day for a daytrip. Sunny and in the distance we could see fresh snow on the mountains. After a scenic 1,5 hour drive we reached the highest point of the Serra da Estrela, the Torre. Lovely day! Sliding, throwing snowballs, making a snowman.

Gister was het een stralende dag en in de verte zagen we verse sneeuw liggen op de bergen. Perfecte dag voor een uitje. Na 1,5 rijden waren we op het hoogste punt van de Serra de Estrela, de Torre het hoogste punt van Portugal. Heerlijk sleeën, sneeuwballen gooien en sneeuwpoppen maken.

Meda de Mouros Trail

Yesterday the anual Meda de Mouros Trail was there. Half of the family walked the Caminhada of 10 km the other half cheered for the runners who passed our Quinta. Beautiful sunny day and great fun.

Gister werd de jaarlijkse Meda de Mouros Trail gehouden. De helft van de familie deed mee met de 10km wandeling. De ander helft moedigde de renners aan die langs onze Quinta kwamen. Het was een prachtige zonnige dag en weer mooie wandelroutes ontdekt zo dichtbij.

Next Sunday the Meda de Mouros Trail is here again. A challenging trailrunning event organized by the people of our village. Through the forest, climbing over trees and along the river they will run up the hill past our Quinta. Today we will check out a part of the route!

Volgende week zondag wordt de jaarlijkse Meda de Mouros trail gelopen. Dit jaar komen ze langs onze Quinta. Wij gaan vandaag al een stukje van de route lopen. Het beloofd een spectaculaire route te worden, langs de rivier, over bomen heen, door het bos en terug naar het dorp.

We entered the new year under a sky full of stars in good company, around the campfire. We couldn’t wish for more. Today the sun shines bright and we hope this year will be full of light, joy and love for everyone and every living being on this beautiful planet.

We hebben het nieuwe jaar ingeluid bij een kampvuur in goed gezelschap onder een prachtige sterrenhemel. Vandaag schijnt de zon weer volop en we wensen iedereen op deze mooie planeet een jaar vol licht, vreugde en liefde.

Yesterday we were happy to welcome Wildling Shoes to our Quinta. They were in Portugal to help plant trees with Gone West and the other Wildlings. We showed them around and as a familiy modelled their great bare foot shoes. So much fun and man they feel great on your feet!

Vorige week brachten we onze 1e lading olijven naar de molen in het dorp. Met de hele familie en hulp van veel vrienden plukten we in een week 419 kilo! Daar kwam 36 liter olie of vloeibaar goud 😉 uit. // Last week we had our first batch of olives pressed. With help of many friends we picked hundreds of kilo’s. Now on with the work when the 🌞 returns!

Afgelopen week was de eerste boomplantdag om de afgebrande hellingen in onze regio van nieuwe inheemse bomen te voorzien. We planten met 60 enthousiaste vrijwilligers o.a.Eiken, Kurkeik & Medronho. We kregen les van professionel treeplanter James van Gone West. Die samen met de Wildlings dit super initiatief nam. Er komen nog 4 plantdagen aan en we gaan in totaal 20.000 bomen planten 💪🌱🌳💚

Vorige week ontvingen we de mensen van Wildlings , Gone West & de chefs van voor een long table dinner. Om elkaar te ontmoeten voor de boom plant activiteiten die eraan komen. Het was een hele gezellige avond ///
Last week we hosted a long table dinner organized by the Wildlings, Gone West and cooked by the chefs of Sol Food,to meet eachother before the big tree planting events coming up.

There is some serious positive action coming up this autumn. Please join in reforesting our region!!

After a hot, wild and adventurous summer we are looking forward to the cooler months to roll up our sleeves and get our hands dirty.

We are going to plant 20.000 native trees of >15 species, which create 5 woodland clusters in the valley around Benfeita and Cerdeira (Arganil). These native woodland areas increase biodiversity and wildlife habitat, while providing ecosystem services and seeds for future expansion. More info to come in the next weeks, but save the dates already. All are welcome to help planting and meet the local community. Together we are stronger! 💚
