💫We are grateful for the opportunity to produce this book, as well as for the exclusive access we were granted to nearly 100% of the content. We sincerely thank all those involved, both in Portugal and in Japan, for the kindness and generosity with which we were always received.

💫Architect Andrea Toccolini, the project director, holds a Master’s degree in Architecture obtained in Portugal, where he began his professional career. He speaks perfect Portuguese and has a deep understanding of the country’s culture. Rita, a partner at Kengo Kuma and Associates, is Portuguese.

💫Architect Kengo Kuma, the author of the project, expresses in his written contribution—reproduced in the book—his deep respect for Portugal, conveyed through unusually strong and moving words. The interview he granted us was far from easy, and once again underscores the tribute he pays to our country, the respect he holds for it, and his clear intention to build bridges of friendship between Portugal and Japan.

👉For our part, we sought to ask the questions we believe readers—especially Portuguese readers—would most want to pose about the architectural project. Kengo Kuma responded to all of them with generosity and patience.The same spirit guided the interviews with the Project Director and the Partner at the studio. We applied the same principle in the selection of technical drawings and other content.

As for the expression "great generosity" in reference to Siza, it appears consistently in all acknowledgements texts, in every editorial of every book or magazine we have produced, and in over 100 videos we’ve created about the Master. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Many years ago, when we first started using these expressions, we were harshly criticised – people claimed we were simply trying to gain favour with the great Master.
