Who are we? The international scientific journal „ICAR” is dedicated to st

udents and recent graduates of conservation and restoration of works of art and related fields from universities and conservation schools in Poland and abroad. The originators of the idea of establishing such a journal are themselves students and young graduates from the Faculty of Conservation and Restoration of Works of Art of the Fine Arts Academy in Warsaw, Poland. The „ICAR” project is the answer to a desire to publish students’ own research in professional journals, indicated numerous times by young conservators and restorers. Being able to demonstrate published scientific papers is often an important factor taken into consideration while accepting candidates for internships, exchanges, work placements, for positions in the private sector as well as by prestigious public institutions like scientific research centres, museums, galleries, universities or disposing grants for research studies. Our mission
The mission of the journal is to popularise the scientific accomplishments of students and young graduates within the field of broadly understood conservation and restoration of works of art.”ICAR” is supposed to become an international platform dedicated to students and young professionals, enabling spreading information and exchanging scientific experiences. The range of topics of published papers includes various matters concerning conservation and restoration of works of art, antique objects and care of cultural heritage.

Dear submitters, we've just became aware that there is a problem after registration of new authors in the system. Our admin activated every account that registered until today and was not activated by user.
This means, that you can log in normally with your personal username and login chosen during registration. If you eventually receive an activation e-mail you can ignore it - your account is activated.
Admin is monitoring the registration so that everyone's accounts will be activated, if not by you through e-mail then manually by admin within an hour.
We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and probably confusion. In the admin panel everything looks perfectly fine so only through messages incoming since yesterday we realised that there's an issue.
To make sure that everyone who tried to register as a new used has a chance to submit an abstract we decided it's only fair to extend the deadline - now it's 19th of May❗️⬅️

Sustainability in Conservation is creating a gels cookbook, because they know that a lot of professionals find gels interesting but very hard to make. "Gels offer a green alternative to solvents, either by improving the intended effects of the treatment or by avoiding the waste of large quantities of solvent. Our cookbook will include information on making gels, tips on when to use them, and other details such as price, materials required, and difficulty of preparation."

So now they are asking professionals to collaborate! If you work with gels, please send them your recipes (or sources for recipes) and help them make gels more accessible to all professional conservators.

"The Gels Cookbook will be available soon exclusively to professional conservators on our website free of charge."

You can find more information about this and other topics here: https://www.sustainabilityinconservation.com/
