Father John's words at the 1958 assembly of Syndesmos began the process of the creation of the Executive Committee for Orthodox External Missions lead by the then Mr. Anastasios Yiannoulatos, now Archbishop Anastasios of Albania. Fr John went on to say the Church needs both human and material help, but essentially and principally devoted men and women. Not necessarily theologians and preachers, but doctors and social workers and any inspired person.

During Wroclaw2022 we will discuss how we can use our talents and treasures to bear fruit as missionaries to the world. We will hear from individuals currently working in the missionary field, and we will learn how to share the Gospel of Christ in our everyday lives with those around us.

All over the world Orthodox young people mark today's Feast of the Meeting of the Lord , and on February 15th (old style) as the World Day of Orthodox Youth. Initiated in 1992, with the blessing of the Heads of the Orthodox Churches, the day has become one in which Orthodox Youth are united throughout the world in their celebration of their mission and importance in the work and life of Christ's Holy Church.
The Meeting of the Lord is one of the instances in the Holy Tradition of the Church which brings forth youth and childhood as an image and vessel of God's presence and of His renewing Grace.
Saint Simeon and Saint Anna show us the way in which we can receive Him. God's Kingdom is near, it comes to us in the Divine-human person of Christ, who renews and rejuvenates our life every day. This is what Orthodox Youth Ministry is always called to be: an invitation to meet the Lord and be changed by this Meeting so that we may, in turn, fulfill the commandment of our Lord to, "Go and Bear Fruit". John 15:16

The first Summer Programme that we worked on together.

I still don't know how the martian got in there, or what it meant, but we were young.

"Mission is a consequence of unity. To be short, if there is one Truth, we must be united in believing in this Truth. And if there is one Truth, we must let others know it and not keep it selfishly to ourselves.... In spite of all handicaps, the Orthodox Church has always carried out missions and is at present doing so...This is our chance to serve the Church." Archpriest John Meyendorff on the mission of Syndesmos

On this, the great feast of the Holy Spirit, we invite you our friends, (Orthodox parishes, and organisations) to Cafe Syndesmos, a digital space where Orthodox Christians can meet and share in the joy of our Orthodox faith, learn about each other, continue old friendships and make new friends, and create projects and initiatives to help create a network of individuals, parishes, church organizations which will work to continue the tradition began by Syndesmos, the World Fellowship of Orthodox Youth, in making our Orthodox world a little, smaller, and better coordinated.
We aim to achieve these goals by:
The creation of an online TV streamed via Facebook, Instagram and YouTube
An online "coffee shop" where people can exchange their ideas, renew old friendships, make news ones, and connect the two via Zoom and Facebook meetings.
Events to present interesting projects and endeavours, organizations and people within the Orthodox Church,
Lectures, and presentations on the beauty of Orthodox culture and theology and peoples.
Please join us and become part of the discussion, by sharing your ideas, offering your expertise in design or social media, helping to manage our events, or by financially supporting the project.
As our world slowly begins to open, and as we look to a future when we can again travel and meet in person, let us use this opportunity to share and make use of the gifts we have been given by the Holy Spirit. Let us keep the joy and inspiration of Pentecost and continue in the vision of Syndesmos, and be inspired by the words of the great Archpriest John Meyendorff, who, speaking at a Syndesmos assembly in 1978 in Thessaloniki said,

"Mission is a consequence of unity. To be short, if there is one Truth, we must be united in believing in this Truth. And if there is one Truth, we must let others know it and not keep it selfishly to ourselves.... In spite of all handicaps, the Orthodox Church has always carried out missions and is at present doing so...This is our chance to serve the Church."

Although we don't know exactly what Cafe Syndesmos is supposed to be, we believe that it should start now, and that together with you we will come up with his concept and together we will choose solutions that will allow us to best achieve its goals.

Cafe Syndesmos in our opinion it is:
- interactive internet television: in English and local versions, with the possibility of participating in the creation of materials and with the possibility of discussions with invited guests. Realized via live streaming on FB, Youtube, Instagram, internet radio and other platforms.
- a space where we can get to know each other, exchange experience, learn and create new projects using Facebook, zoom, tools for organizing webinars and other online communication platforms
- a platform on which we will present interesting church projects, organizations, church people and what they do. Place of cultural and spiritual development.
- a space where we will present the beauty and richness of Orthodoxy: local Orthodox churches, countries, places, theology, music, iconography and everything that we associate with Orthodoxy.
- a platform whose knowledge, tools and staff will be able to be used by other Orthodox parishes, organizations and the media to reach people they work with faster and more efficiently (at international, national, parish level, and even informal groups).

I know the task is difficult, but together we can definitely do it!

If you want to help me with this, then:
- be active on the FB Cafe Syndesmos website: submit your ideas and discuss ideas of other people, You can conduct discussions on different language groups (for now there is English: Cafe Syndesmos English language and Polish: Cafe Syndesmos po polsku).
- you can volunteer and help us develop and manage various virtual spaces (Facebook, Instagram, Zoom, Twitter, website etc)
- you can also financially support our project, today I will launch the first campaign that will allow us to buy licenses and necessary equipment, conduct tests and set a preliminary schedule of activities
- if you like the idea and need more information, feel free to write to me (via FB or to [email protected])

We are the Church and our task is to continue the mission of the Apostles ...
