At 10am on Thursday 4th December, the 83rd Kraków Nativity Scene contest will take place on Ryenk.

Participants gather with their nativity scenes from 10 am, around the Adam Mickiewicz statue on Rynek. (or under the cover of Sukinneicec, if the weather isn’t so kind)

Then at 12 midday, they parade around Rynek, then present their nativity scenes on the stage.

Our video and interview with Kraków Museum's director of Intangible Heritage, Dr. Andzrej Szoka, from last year’s 82nd NATIVITY SCENE CONTEST - SZOPKA KRAKOWSKA - will give you an idea of what to expect.

A moving look at the UK & Commonwealth Remembrance Service, which was held at the Commonwealth War Cemetery in Krakow, on 7th November.

The poignant lament “Flowers of the Forest.”, was performed by Lindsay Davidson, dedicated to the fallen, and recorded especially to accompany this video.
A moment to remember and honour all who served.

Video and photographs of Independence Day in Kraków.

Poland celebrated National Independence Day (Narodowe Święto Niepodległości), on 11th November, when Poles commemorated the 107th anniversary of the restoration of Poland’s sovereignty as the Second Polish Republic in 1918, after 123 years of partition.

On Friday, 7th November 2025, a memorial service dedicated to Elżbieta Penderecka took place at the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul in Kraków.

Music was performed by Sinfonietta Cracovia, mourners had the opportunity to pay their respects and enter messages in a book of remembrance.

Elżbieta Penderecka was the widow of the late Polish composer Krzysztof Penderecki; however, she was also a significant figure in the cultural and music communities of Poland and worldwide.

Details on the illustrious career and life of Elżbieta Penderecka can be found here.

Video of the entire multimedia animation, which will be projected onto the walls of Wawel Castle, each night, until 11th November, between 5pm and 8pm.

The animated projection is part of this year’s celebrations of the 1000th anniversary of the Crowning of the Kingdom of Poland.

I was invited to the official opening, which I'm sharing here for those who can’t make it before 11th Nov.

The projection will be visible simultaneously on the castle walls facing Grodzka, and Smocza streets and from the Wisła river boulevard. A story about Polish identity in a modern, moving form.

Highly recommended.

The Kazimierz-Ludwinów footbridge now spans both banks of the Wisła.

The 130m 'artistic installation' footbridge is designed to resemble a sine wave, with a raised 'viewing platform' and a lower 'sine ribbon' section, close to the water, attracting the nickname "sinus" in some Polish media.

The bridge, which will connect Kazimierz and Podgórze, is scheduled to be completed in mid-2026.

I had a wee drone flight to capture this stage of construction, filming the bridge as it was bathed in the rather fine 'golden hour', evening light on Sunday.

On Friday 5th September, piipers from Kraków Piping Club lead a Celtic Parade to kick off the first-ever Celtic Festival.

Pipers, performers and supporters marched from Barbakan to Rynek, with kilts and flags of the Celtic Nations flowing.

After the parade, the opening event of Kraków Celtic Festival took place at Klub Pod Jaszczurami, with Celtic music and dance, followed by two days of Celtic workshops and performances at Dworek Białoprądnicki.

Follow Kraków Celtic Festival on our social media, and find out more at www.krakowcelticfestival.pl

We'll be planning more events throughout the next year, and of course Kraków Celtic Festival 2026!
