Why stupid decisions!
****
By Ibn e Wali
**** From enlightened religion to successful strategy to fight Covid 19 threat we keep on staggering between the two extremes.... Corona is exagerated threat and a so many evidences in its support suggesting no need of vaccination and no need of lock down but then the growing number of people dying from aimilar symtoms suggests otherwise.
Not only in the private sector but also within their ranks, doubts about mental capability or decision making of the Babus including uniformed is a common observation. Unfortunately we keep on suffering the outcome of their unjust and unwise decisions.
My hybrid car developed some fault put all warning lights on. It was dangerous to drive the car that way and during working hours, you can not take the car to workshop feom Islamabad to Rawalpindi for check up. The workshops behind my office are too shaddy and lacks expertise to handle hybrid cars.
Two weeks went by as their was locksown on Saturdays and Sundays. On one Saturday, I dared to check the market and found aome boys sitting outside their locked shop. They opened the shutters and working on my vehicle while the shutter is locked again.
Before I discuss the issues with my car eapecially ABS for the benefit of other similar car owners, let me discuss what I intended on the subject- the wise decision of civilian and the ruling bureaucrasy.
If one intends to avoid rush what are the options and conditions!
You have a certain window of time available for public to make purchases. You do some home work and ascertain the rush hours. During days, rush in the bazars is seen in the evening. Markets open around 12 noon because their is hardly any customer during working days. The wise decision would have been to divide the markets opening following schedule 6 to 14 hours and 14 to 22 hours with alternate schedule and weekly holidays. So customer never finds shops/ business closed to get a job done. If A is closed in the morning, B is open and wise versa. Same should do in the evening and on Saturdays and Sundays.
Office timinings and weekly off days should also be declared similarly.
Following the poor implementation of the rules and regulations, several public sector offices (or their certain sections) workings in shifts observe 5 days working week. They are supposed to work 6 days a week. Working in shifts is the most suited to avoid rush during Covid times.
But those working in fixed timings never get time to shop during the working days. They do not need to ahop for themselves but in many cases, they are required to shop for their families especially school kids. When the shops are closed on Saturdays and Sundays, when and how people buy stuff for their children? Nobody ever realized because for highups making these decisions have no such issues. They never connected to the people hence not capable of empathizing with them or realizing in what thick mess the ordinary people are 🤔.
Such people make these decisions without conducting any market research, if they go for such a wise act, it becomes expensive because of cuts and commissions besides refusal from genuine people to work with bureaucrasy who is not only thick headed to underatnd any logical and scientific thing but also try to humiliate the private sector gurus with their lame excuses or delying tactics in the pretext of one or the other reason.
Their such attitude is deriven from their thinking themselves superior to all (orginates from inferiority complex), their bossing nature taught in Academy or staff college ( Envisaged by British rulers as Master and slave mentality) and above all thinking that they think better and know it all (againfallacy of the aforementioned complex).
If our officialdom is connected to our masses and free from complexes that force them to connect with elitest of the elite in politics and society, they will go for options which result in convenience and comfort for the helpless masses and not for self centered approach and vested interest.
Our dog is bloody dog and their dog is Tommy..a living person who has more righrs than a human being and whose cost of maintenance is higher than the living cost of the ordinary person.
For a bureacrat, taking Rs 70 thousand to 95 thousand per month in lieu of official caris legal besides having not one rather several official cars with free fuel at his/her disposal but also for family and servants. It is neither illegal nor "haram". Who can raise an objection on this ??? Parliamentarians...well their perks and salaries raised as per their wish and will. Who is above them.... they get more over their already heavily subsidized packages 😜.
Now to the car issue... most of the drivers of manual transmission are not aware of the delicasy of the automatic and above that hybrid vehicles. Most of them exert more pressure on brakes while climbing up or sliding down instead of lowering the gear. Similarly at traffic jams and at signals, they keep brakes pressed instead putting the engine to Parking mode and leaving the brake. These activity weakens the breaks that result in ABS failure. One more issue is that poor brake shows also faile the ABS.
ABS for left hand vehicles if used in your vehicle it will cost some Rs 40 k and right hand Kabali will cost around 60 to 65k. If you go to a brnaded shop, you may be charged double of that.
