An Open Letter to Kababjees Fried Chicken

Dear Kababjees Team,

First of all, I just want to say—we’re proud of you.

As a local food chain, you’ve not only captured our hearts with your delicious meals but also earned our respect by standing tall as a powerful alternative to international franchises, many of which are unfortunately linked to agendas we don’t support as a nation.

You’ve proven that we don’t need to look elsewhere to enjoy quality, taste, or innovation. You are the taste of Pakistan, and we love you for it.

That’s why I’m writing this with so much hope in my heart.

In these difficult times, when our brothers and sisters in Palestine—especially in Gaza—are facing unimaginable horrors, we, the people of Pakistan, are standing with them in every best possible manner. Every small action counts. Every gesture of solidarity speaks volumes. And we believe that if you, as a beloved local brand, take a step to show your support—whether through your packaging, campaigns, or any other creative effort—it would mean the world to us.

You already have our love, but this... this would take things to another level. We would be even prouder to support you, knowing that you stand with humanity, with justice, and with Palestine.

You have the power to set a fine example for the entire food industry in Pakistan. And we know you can.

Let’s come together and raise our voices—not just through words, but through our platforms, our brands, and our actions. Let’s show the world what it means to be truly united.

With love, respect, and hope,
A loyal supporter and proud Pakistani

Chand Raat, translating to "Night of the Moon," holds profound significance for Muslims, especially those who have devoted themselves to fasting, worship, and spiritual reflection throughout Ramadan. This night marks the culmination of a month dedicated to self-discipline, heightened devotion, and acts of charity.

For individuals who have observed fasting from dawn to dusk, engaged in nightly Taraweeh prayers, and participated in additional acts of worship, Chand Raat serves as a moment of spiritual fulfillment and gratitude. It is an opportunity to reflect on the personal growth achieved during Ramadan and to seek forgiveness and blessings as they transition into Eid al-Fitr.

Particularly for those who have spent the last ten days of Ramadan in I'tikaf—a period of seclusion in the mosque dedicated to intensive prayer and contemplation—Chand Raat signifies the completion of this profound spiritual retreat. Emerging from I'tikaf on this night, they rejoin their communities with renewed faith and a deepened connection to their spirituality.

As we embrace this sacred evening, I extend heartfelt wishes to everyone celebrating. May this Chand Raat bring peace, joy, and countless blessings to you and your loved ones. Please remember your loved ones in your prayers. Especially the people of Gaza and Palestine. Chand Raat Mubarak!

Today, as we honor the birth of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, let’s reflect not just on his vision for Pakistan, but also on the current reality we are living in.

Our country is grappling with severe economic, political, and financial crises. The collective mood of the nation is one of disappointment and despair. Brain drain has reached alarming levels — those who can afford to leave, are doing so. Those who can’t, are working tirelessly, not to build a better Pakistan, but to find a way out. Depression and agony have permeated society. Taking lives has become a trivial act. Our sense of amusement has been reduced to shopping and eating out. In cities like Karachi, 80% of what was once vibrant has turned into a concrete jungle.

Yet, despite all this, people live with the hope that one day, things will change. But hope alone is not enough. Change requires action. It demands strong, selfless leadership and a collective will from the people. The day our politicians and leaders align themselves with the nation’s true needs, the day institutions stop interfering in areas they have no business in, and the day everyone fulfills their assigned roles with integrity, Pakistan can be back on track.

We have the potential to rise — but it starts with us. Let’s promise today to be better citizens, to support true leaders, and to hold ourselves accountable in our respective roles. Together, we can honor the vision of Quaid-e-Azam and create the Pakistan he dreamed of.

Let’s not lose hope. Let’s work for the change we all wish to see.

Dear Standard Chartered Pakistan ... I have an interesting Question for you. Taala Hai? Agar nahi hai tou I can provide you with one So you can shut your support properly.

Because your team MASHALLAH never seize to amaze with disappointments and lame excuses. I have done a factory reset on my smartphone. I installed the application and now when I am trying to log in. it is not letting me do that. Imagine my surprise when your app grandly refused my login attempts. How exclusive!

I called your support team, and they said they are unaware of such issues. Then the guy said he was disabling my SCKey, which is why the app does not permit me to log in. When asked if this sorcery should at least allow browser access, I was schooled on how my SC Key was the root of all evil. Marvelous deduction!🤔 Seriously Browser not loading the app due to SC Key and app issues.

Anyway, Act Two of this comedy! I thought it would work. I waited for a good 10 minutes, reinstalled the app, and tried with the hope that it would let me in. But the same thing over again.

Another call to your helpline, another round of reinstalling the app, another futile plea to the gods of finance. But wait, the problem might be my perfectly fine 32 Mbps internet connection! Of course, how did I not see it? It’s always the internet, not your flawless app.

The climax of this saga was the promise of an urgent resolution—just a breezy five working days later! Because obviously, urgent transactions are overrated and patience is a virtue best practiced during financial emergencies. ABAY KYA MAZAAK HAI?? Are you for real?

For once think about your international presence, about your support quality. I am not complaining about the service. I never had issues with that. But FFS, review your customer and technical support.

A suggestion, if I may? Maybe include a disclaimer for new users: “Welcome to Standard Chartered—where you can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave!”

Yours Truly,
Adeel Sohail

Yesterday, I was privileged to attend the Karachi AI Meetup #18, which exceeded my expectations. The event focused on AI in the Automotive Industry and the revolution in Large Language Models (LLMs). Standby for a complete video on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at 9 PM, where I'll share my experience and insights from the organizers. Big Shoutout to Team Karachi AI, Mesum Raza Hemani and Mustafa Ali, your hard work and efforts made this wonderful and informative meetup successful.

In the first half, we explored AI in the Automotive Industry:

Ammad Nadeem, CEO of VisionRD, led us into the world of self-driving cars and AI-based Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), showcasing the mind-boggling future of transportation.

Noman Sarwar, a Lecturer at Hamdard University, delved into predictive maintenance and user experience, revealing how AI is reshaping the automotive industry.

Mirza Umer Saleem, VP of Engineering at Trukkr, highlighted the significance of route optimization, traffic management, and governance, offering valuable logistics insights.

In the second half, the spotlight was on Large Language Models:

Arhum I., Co-Founder of ConnectHear, introduced newcomers to the LLM revolution, making it accessible and intriguing. You certainly named ChatGPT thrice in your talk. But trust me you were awesome I enjoyed it.

Huzaifa Kamran , a Data Engineer at TMC (TallyMarks Consulting), discussed how LLMs are reshaping the future of software development, unveiling mind-blowing features in programming tools. GitHub co-pilot you showed was amazing.

Lastly, Mesum Raza Hemani, Founder of Karachi AI and VP of Analytics at NBP Funds provided a beautiful explanation of data management tools and customization.

Mr. Muhammad Shoaib Arif, Project Director, National Aerospace Science & Technology Park (NASTP) Karachi, delivered a closing note emphasizing the significance of AI in today's world and a motivation to learn in future.

Pakistan is, Alhumdulillah rich in tech talent and all forms of unique skills. This event showcased Pakistan's incredible AI talent. However, events like this prove that with the proper support, Pakistani youth can achieve remarkable results through creativity.

The enthusiasm of the young attendees was palpable. They actively engaged with the speakers, took diligent notes, participated in Q&A sessions, and networked. It's a testament to the thirst for knowledge and the bright future that awaits Pakistan's AI community.

Conclusion:

Karachi AI Meetup #18 left me inspired and hopeful about the future of AI in Pakistan. The organizers' dedication, the speakers' expertise, and the audience's hunger for knowledge made it an unforgettable experience.

Let's continue supporting and nurturing Pakistan's incredible AI talent to reach new heights.
