On Monday, Saudi Arabia issued a warning about a significant temperature rise in Mecca as Muslim pilgrims concluded the Hajj under extreme heat, with more than a dozen confirmed heat-related fatalities.
This year, one of the world's largest religious gatherings took place again during the sweltering Saudi summer. On Sunday alone, the Saudi health ministry reported over 2,700 cases of "heat exhaustion."
According to the Saudi weather service, temperatures at Mecca's Grand Mosque reached 51.8 degrees Celsius (125 degrees Fahrenheit) on Monday, where pilgrims were performing Tawaf around the Kaaba, the large black cubic structure that is the focal point of Muslim prayers.

On Sunday, the UAE experienced its hottest day of the year, coinciding with Eid Al Adha celebrations, as temperatures soared to 49.4°C in Sweihan (Al Ain) in Abu Dhabi at 2:45 PM, according to the National Centre of Meteorology.
Last August, the mercury had reached 50.8°C in Abu Dhabi.
The UAE also saw some rain and heavy thunderstorms earlier in June, with more rain expected.

The Pakistan Tanners Association has reported that around 6.8 million animals will be sacrificed in Pakistan during this year's Eid-ul-Azha.
This total includes 2.8 million cows, 3.3 million goats, 165,000 buffaloes, and 99,000 camels. The estimated value of the skins from these sacrificial animals is around Rs6 billion.
Specifically, cow skins are expected to contribute Rs4.29 billion, with each skin valued at Rs1,500. Goat skins are estimated to add Rs1.4025 billion, with each skin valued at Rs425.

During a press briefing on Saturday, January 15th, Tawfiq al-Rabia, the Minister of Hajj and Umrah affairs of Saudi Arabia, announced that 1,833,164 pilgrims from around the world participated in the current Hajj program. According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), he reported the successful stages of Hajj from Makkah to Mina and Arafat without any issues.
The General Authority for Statistics in Saudi Arabia disclosed that pilgrims arrived from over 200 countries. Among them, 63.3 percent came from Asian countries, 23.3 percent from Arab countries, 11.3 percent from Africa, and 3.2 percent from America and Australia.
The breakdown of pilgrims includes 221,854 domestic pilgrims within Saudi Arabia and 1,611,310 pilgrims from outside the country. There were 958,137 male pilgrims and 875,025 female pilgrims.
In terms of transportation, 1,546,345 pilgrims arrived by air, 60,251 by land, and 4,714 by sea.
The Hajj rituals commenced on Friday, June 14th, with pilgrims staying in Mina on Saturday and proceeding to Arafat Maidan, spending the night in the open desert of Muzdalifah. On Sunday, June 16th, the third day of Hajj, pilgrims performed the rituals of throwing pebbles, sacrificing animals, and shaving their heads at the Big Jamarat.
