SPOKESPERSON Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan told the media in a Press Briefing that Pakistan have information from credible sources that India is planning to undertake a military misadventure, which it usually termed as so called surgical strikes against Pakistan across the Line of Control (LoC) or International border. For this mischief India is making ground and trying to seek understanding from major powers. India had already orchestrated a similar drama in 2019. When it staged Pulwama attack as a reason to launch so called surgical strikes against Pakistan and in response it faced shameless global embarrassment on the hands of our Valiant Armed Forces. Indian government become frustrated due to its internal issues of law and orders in various states and ongoing protest by Indian farmers. This situation of internal unrest and chaos is due to the RSS and BJP regime’s fascist polices aimed at suppression of religious minorities and underprivileged segment of Indian society. The fascist government of BJP led by Narendra Modi is seeking an escape way from this worsening internal situation by creating tension at Pakistan India border. India thinks that a misadventure at LoC or International border with Pakistan will attract the attention of Indian society and International Community toward it, while its internal issues and problems will be go into the back burner.https://dailymailnews.pk/2020/12/21/indias-desire-to-attack/

DESPITE the encouraging news that vaccines may be on the way, the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic has had a profound and lasting impact on the international community. It has increased economic uncertainty and geopolitical frictions while highlighting the shortcomings of global governance at a time when transnational challenges are more evident than ever. Yet the unprecedented changes we are witnessing also bring opportunities for China’s development and global integration.
The Fifth Plenum of the 19th Communist Party of China Central Committee, held at the end of October, gave an early glimpse into China’s plans to help shape a more peaceful and prosperous post-pandemic world.
The meeting set guidelines for China’s forthcoming 14th Five-Year-Plan (2021-25) as well as a long-term goal—2035 Vision. While five-year plans primarily focus on domestic goals for economic and social development, the proposals also reaffirm China’s commitment to continuing the nation’s opening up and creating a sound external environment for development.
Doing so requires taking efforts both close to and far away from China, covering emerging and industrialized countries alike. It will span all spheres of international cooperation, from diplomacy and free trade promotion to infrastructure and strengthening global governance.
Focus on Asia” On top of the list is deepening relations with neighbors in Asia, which already accounts for 60 percent of global growth and will only gain greater importance as it recovers fast from COVID-19. The continent is increasingly bound together through global value chains, free trade agreements, and the Belt and Road Initiative. Data released in July 2020 by the Asian Development Bank showed that intra-regional trade makes up 58 percent of Asian countries’ total foreign trade currently, up from 45.2 percent in 2000.

BEIJING: Pakistan-China border crossing at Khunjrab Pass has been opened from Tuesday (December 15) for the next ten days.
The border is open to evacuate stranded containers from China to Gilgit-Baltistan. Tourists will not be allowed to travel through border crossing during this period. Located at 4,600 meters above sea level, the China-Pakistan border crossing, which goes over Khunjerab Pass and Karakoram Highway, is the highest, and consequently, one of the most beautiful borders in the world. Mid September this year, the Pakistan-China border at Khunjerab was opened till month end to facilitate bilateral trade. Two containers carrying medical equipment donated bythe Xinjiang province to Gilgit-Baltistan police department arrived at the Khunjerab pass following its opening in September.

The ministry of foreign affairs had written a letter to the China embassy in Pakistan on August 18, proposing that the border should be kept opened till December 31 to facilitate trade activities. The letter had also suggested that containers from Chinese side should be unloaded at the Sost dry port instead of the Khunjerab top.
The Khunjerab pass was closed for trade and travel between the two countries in May this year due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Usually, the border remains open for trade and travel from May first to November end every year. Officials of the Pakistan Customs told media that stranded containers of Pakistani traders in China moved freely across the border under strict SOPs to contain coronavirus transmission. Earlier, the GB traders had requested the ministry of foreign affairs to request Chinese authorities to reopen the border as thousands of people affiliated with border trade had became jobless due to its continued closure.

16/12/2020

SINCE 2017, Australia has gradually become an “anti-China pioneer” in many ways. It might even be the most anti-China country in the world today. It seems Australia does not reject this badge of shame, but is flaunting its frontline role as a lead agitator.
Since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Australia, their bilateral relations have developed steadily as there is no major conflict of interests between the two countries. But today, China is confused why Australia has become so hostile and unreasonable. However, behind Australia’s seemingly “irrational” anti-China approach, there are considerations about its own interests.
One issue is marginalization. In the 1980s, Australia’s diplomatic status and international influence were on the rise. It started to integrate into Asia, participating in many cooperation mechanisms and regional organizations in the Asia-Pacific and East Asia. But since the beginning of the 21st century, with the rapid rise of China and US’ pivot to the Asia-Pacific, the development of cooperation mechanisms in the region has gradually come to stall. Strategic competition between China and the US has now become the theme of the region, and Australia’s diplomatic aura has faded, with its strategic space continuously compressed.
Australia has also made many attempts to turn the declining tide and increase its influence. This included advocating for the establishment of an “Asia-Pacific Community” and actively promoting the “Trans-Pacific Partnership.” Unfortunately, these efforts had few effects.
With the rampant pandemic and rapid changes in the international economic and political order, Australia has chosen an extreme and irrational path. Canberra has adopted “megaphone diplomacy,” with the hope to establish an image that it is “defying power and adhering to principles” and garner international attention.
A second issue pertains to anxiety. During World War II, Australia was deeply threatened by Japan’s invasion, which resulted in a sense of anxiety that its limited strength was unable to effectively deal with the challenge of geosecurity alone. This uneasiness has continued until now.

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) and Pink Ribbon Pakistan on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to raise awareness about breast cancer with joint efforts and play a role to control it. President ICCI Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan and CEO Pink Ribbon Pakistan Omer Aftab signed the MoU during a ceremony held at ICCI. Speaking at the occasion, Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan said that breast cancer was on the rise in Pakistan as roughly one in eight women was vulnerable to develop it in their life. He said that almost 30 percent of cancers in women were reportedly breast cancers and 3 percent women were dying from this disease. He said being a developing country, it was difficult for Pakistan to provide treatment to every cancer patient, therefore, it was very important to take preventive measures to avert any bad scenario. He said that contrary to around 98 percent survival rate, almost 50 percent breast cancer patients in Pakistan reportedly died due to delayed diagnosis as the ailment was usually concealed owing to attached taboos.
The ICCI President emphasized for concerted efforts to create massive awareness by including the business community, intelligentsia, media, and health experts to prevent the prevalence of breast cancer in the country. He hoped that MoU of cooperation between ICCI and Pink Ribbon Pakistan would be instrumental in raising better awareness about this fatal disease and reducing its mortality rate. Senior Vice President ICCI Ms. Fatma Azim and Vice President Abdul Rehman Khan said that poor diet, smoking, eating adulterated food & liquids and alcohol were some major risk factors for breast cancer and urged that society should be educated to avoid using these things. They said that breast cancer could be diagnosed at an early stage by guiding and educating the women about its major causes. They said that ICCI would organize awareness sessions and seminars on the causes of breast cancer and how to control it.

12/12/2020

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s economic growth trajectory remains on a gradual declining path with an average growth between 3-4% over the past thirty years or so.
This means that the structure of Pakistan’s economy has not changed to catch up with other emerging economies through enhanced productivity and competitiveness.
Past two years have been particularly difficult when growth rapidly declined and Pakistan had to go to IMF, China and other countries for a financial bailout to deal with its unsustainable current account deficit.
The efforts of the government must be appreciated on stablisation front where twin deficits have been brought down through financial discipline.
Looking ahead, the growth projections remain below 2% in the next two years – way lower than many Asian economies.
A slow economic period coupled with political instability may pose serious challenges in terms of country’s strategic geo-political positioning, sustaining the pace of CPEC implementation and more importantly creating opportunities for the young population entering the job market.
The biggest challenge for the government is to minimize the risk of job losses due to economic slowdown and the aftermath of COVID-19 lockdowns. Unfortunately, the second wave of pandemic has started hitting the economy again.
According to a research conducted by Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE), almost 18 million people are expected to lose their jobs in Pakistan due to COVID-19 pandemic.
The major vulnerable sectors are agriculture and services sector where more than half of these jobs are at stake. Daily wage and contract employees are among the most vulnerable to lose their livelihood.
Although there is huge focus on revival of construction sector for job creation, construction is the least affected sector in terms of potential job losses.
Similarly, the impact of job losses in large scale manufacturing and transport sectors is much lower when compared with agriculture and retail sectors.
