IHC reserves verdict on PUBG suspension.
ISLAMABAD:
The Islamabad High Court reserved its verdict on the petition pertaining to the ban on PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) on Tuesday after completion of arguments by parties.

The case was heard before Justice Amir Farooq.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) objected to the petition filed by PUBG's controlling company in Pakistan.

"Under which law did you ban the game," inquired Justice Farooq of the PTA.

PTA's lawyer contended that the game appears to contain anti-Islamic and immoral material which led to the ban. The court asked where in the minutes of the meeting was such material mentioned.

The court asked PTA if it would shut down everything if the CPO were to ask it to. "Which complaint mentioned that the game is against Islamic teachings," asked the court.

At this, the PTA lawyer stated that the situation had unfolded such that the game had to be suspended.

You have to take decisions according to the law not the situation, remarked Justice Farooq. There are other games as well which are perhaps even more violent, he observed.

On July 1, the PTA suspended PUBG after "receiving complaints from different segments of society".

"PTA has received numerous complaints against PUBG wherein it is stated that the game is addictive, waste of time and poses serious negative impact on physical and psychological health of the children," a statement by the authority said.

The court had sought records pertaining to the ban from the authority at the previous hearing.

Ducky Bhai criticizes PUBG ban in Pakistan.

Ducky Bhai, a famous YouTuber, and gamer, while talking to Waqar Zaka explained how the ban on PUBG has affected gamers, who want to make a career out of E-sports.

“If people start accepting it as a legitimate argument then I don’t think any app, gaming or not, is secure in the future. It doesn’t make sense to ban an app used by millions just because of an issue relating to one person.”

Adding to that, Ducky talked about how the powers that be and parents should realize that gaming also holds teens away from various addictions,
“If you go to any gamer, he wouldn’t be wandering aimlessly, indulging in various vices. You wouldn’t see a gamer smoking, watching objectionable material on the internet, and doing drugs. Why? Because they would be too busy focusing on video games. I myself have been shielded from such activities only because of gaming.”

Apart from this, Ducky concluded by saying that playing games allow people to handle loneliness.

“Some people have social anxiety and are unable to interact with people in their real lives. But in online gaming, you have to talk to people. It betters your communication skills. There are kids who don’t have any friends and are sad because of it. In gaming, you are connected to people all around the world, be it duos or squads…you get to make friends. My discord is full of people that I have met only through gaming, whom I now consider friends.”

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has banned the online game Players Unknown Battleground (PUBG) temporarily in Pakistan. With the ban, the future of many E-sports players gets at risk.

The message shared by Freestyle team leader reads:

"Unfortunately, the team won’t be allowed to play in the PMWL as long as the game is banned in Pakistan. We are very sorry for this, but we cannot go against the government’s laws. The team will still receive weekly attendance prize money even if you are not playing. Let’s hope the government unbans the game as soon as possible."

The Islamabad High Court has sent a petition against the suspension of online game PUBG to the PTA.
Justice Farooq asked the PTA lawyer whether PUBG was a game or website. He replied that the PTA had suspended the link for the gaming application.

The judge asked why the PTA had decided to ban the game, to which he was told that the Lahore police had written the a letter about PUBG and its link to a number of suicides. We also got requests to block the game from parents.

Justice Farooq reminded the PTA that whatever it does must be according to the law. If you want to ban it, you must mention what law it violates, he said.

The court sent the petition to the PTA and disposed of it. The PTA will make a decision on the petition by July 8, the lawyer said.

Killer speech by Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe:

"Racism will never end as long as white cars are stil using black tyres. Racism will never end if people still use black to symbolise bad luck and white for peace. Racism will never end if people still wear white clothes to weddings and black clothes to funerals. Racism will never end as long as those who don't pay their bills are blacklisted not white listed. Even when playing snooker, you haven't won until you've sunk the black ball, and the white ball must remain on the table! But I don't care, as long as I'm still using white toilet paper to wipe my black ass, I'm happy."
