ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦਾ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਪੜ੍ਹਦਿਆਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਨੇਪਾਲ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਿਕਰ ਵੀ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਖ਼ਾਸ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਮਹਾਰਾਣੀ ਜਿੰਦਾ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਲਾਵਤਨੀ ਦੇ ਦੇ 11 ਸਾਲ ਨੇਪਾਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰੇ ਸਨ।

ਜੀਵੇ ਸਾਂਝਾ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਲੋਂ ਮਹਾਰਾਣੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਕੌਰ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਤੇ ਖੋਜ ਕਾਰਜ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਨੇਪਾਲ ਜਾਣ ਦਾ ਸਬੱਬ ਬਣਿਆ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਥੋੜ੍ਹਾ ਜਿਹਾ ਲਿਖ ਰਹੀ ਹਾਂ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਖੋਜ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਮੈਂ ਵੀ ਨੇਪਾਲ ਇਸ ਆਸ ਨਾਲ ਪਹੁੰਚੀ ਕਿ ਮਹਾਰਾਣੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇੱਥੇ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰੇ 11 ਸਾਲਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਸ਼ਾਇਦ ਕੁਝ ਨਾ ਕੁਝ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਵੇ। ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ 11 ਸਾਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਬਹੁਤਾ ਜ਼ਿਕਰ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ।

ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਕਾਠਮਾਂਡੂ ਦੀਆਂ ਲਾਇਬ੍ਰੇਰੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਆਰਕਾਈਵਜ਼ ਨੂੰ ਫਰੋਲਿਆ। ਜਿਥੋਂ ਮਹਾਰਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੀ ਕੋਈ ਖਾਸ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਨਾ ਮਿਲ ਸਕੀ, ਪਰ ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੀ ਹੋਰ ਕਾਫੀ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਮਹਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਹੱਥ ਲੱਗੀਆਂ। ਫ਼ਿਰ ਇਥੋਂ ਦੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕਾਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਲੇਖਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੋਇਆ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਮਹਾਰਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਨੇਪਾਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਿਤਾਏ ਸਮੇਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗੀਆਂ। ਕੁਝ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਾਰਿਸਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਹੋਈ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੋਲ ਮਹਾਰਾਣੀ ਆ ਕੇ ਰੁਕੇ ਸਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਚੰਗੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਤੇ ਮਿਲੀ ਹੀ, ਪਰ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਚੀਜ਼ ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਿੱਖੀ, ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਚ ਮਹਾਰਾਣੀ ਜਿੰਦਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਰਣਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਲਈ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਸ਼ਾਇਦ ਨੇਪਾਲ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੀ ਵੱਧ ਸਤਿਕਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਰਣਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਸਨ। ਇੱਕ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਵਾਰਸ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮਹਾਰਾਣੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਕੌਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਮ ਔਰਤ ਨਾ ਸਮਝੋ, ਨਾ ਹੀ ਕੇਵਲ ਇੱਕ ਰਾਣੀ, ਇਹ ਸਮਝੋ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਜਰਨੈਲ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਆਸਤ ਦੇ ਪੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਜਜ਼ਬਾ ਕਮਾਲ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਆਖ਼ਰੀ ਸਾਹ ਤੱਕ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਲਈ ਜੂਝਦੀ ਰਹੀ। ਸਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਇਹ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਬੜੇ ਮਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਨ।

ਫਿਰ ਕਾਠਮਾਂਡੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਵੀ ਵੇਖਿਆ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਮਹਾਰਾਣੀ ਲਈ ਰਾਣਾ ਜੰਗ ਬਹਾਦਰ ਨੇ ਅਲਗ ਤੋਂ ਰਿਹਾਇਸ਼ੀ ਇਮਾਰਤ ਬਣਵਾਈ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਚਾਰਬੁਰਜਾ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਸੀ। ਅੱਜ ਇਹ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਥੇ ਇੱਕ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਬਣਿਆ ਹੈ।

ਨੇਪਾਲਗੰਜ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਆਸ ਪਾਸ ਵੱਸੇ ਕੁਝ ਪਿੰਡਾਂ ਸਿੱਖਨਪੁਰਾ, ਬਕੌਲੀ, ਬੰਕਤਵਾ, ਜਮੁਨਾ ਆਦਿ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿੱਖ ਆਬਾਦੀ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ। ਮਹਾਰਾਣੀ ਤੋਂ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਖ਼ਾਲਸਾ ਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਕੁਝ ਸਿੱਖ ਫੌਜੀ ਵੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਗਰ ਆਏ ਸਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਠਮਾਂਡੂ ਰਹਿਣ ਦੀ ਇਜਾਜ਼ਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਤਰਾਈ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਸ ਗਏ। ਮਹਾਰਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਜਾਣ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਵੀ ਉਹ ਇੱਥੇ ਹੀ ਰਹੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਾਰਸ ਹੀ ਨੇਪਾਲਗੰਜ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਬਹੁਤੇ ਨੇਪਾਲੀ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਝ ਕੁ ਹਿੰਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਬੋਲ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਿੰਡਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਫੀ ਘਰੀਬੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਾਲੀ ਹਾਲਤ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਖ਼ਰਾਬ ਹੈ।

ਕੁਝ ਸਿੱਖ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ੧੮੫੭ ਦੀ ਵੰਡ ਵੇਲੇ ਐਬਟਾਬਾਦ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਜ਼ੱਫਰਾਬਾਦ ਦੇ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਠ ਕੇ ਆ ਕੇ ਇਥੇ ਵਸੇ ਨੇ। ਕਾਠਮੰਡੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੰਮੂ ਕਸ਼ਮੀਰ ਤੋਂ ਆਏ ਸਿੱਖ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਨੇ।

ਬੜਾ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਕਿ ਦੇਸ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਲਈ ਮਹਾਰਾਨੀ ਮਗਰ ਆਏ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਾਰਸਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੌਖਿਕ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਸੁਣਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦਾ, ਪਰ ਦਿਲ ਉਦਾਸ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਮਹਾਰਾਣੀ ਬਾਰੇ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਬੇਖ਼ਬਰ ਹਨ। ਮਹਾਰਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤਾ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਤਾ।

ਖੈਰ, ਬਹੁਤ ਕੁਝ ਹੈ ਲਿਖਣ ਅਤੇ ਦੱਸਣ ਨੂੰ। ਆਉਂਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਖਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਵੀਡੀਓ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਪ ਸਭ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝਿਆਂ ਕਰਾਂਗੇ। ਸਰਕਾਰ ਰਣਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇ ਰਾਜ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਜ ਵੇਲੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਅਤੇ ਨੇਪਾਲ ਦੇ ਡਿਪਲੋਮੈਟਿਕ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇ, 19 ਵੀਂ ਸਦੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਤਿੰਨ ਵੱਡੀਆਂ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ: ਸਿੱਖ, ਗੋਰਖੇ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਗ੍ਰੇਜ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਟਕਰਾਅ, ਮਹਾਰਾਣੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਕੌਰ, ਨੇਪਾਲ ਦੀ ਅੰਦਰੂਨੀ ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਤੇ ਅਸਰ ਸਮੇਤ ਹੋਰ ਬੜੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਨਵੀਆਂ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਸਾਂਝੀਆਂ ਕਰਾਂਗੇ, ਜਿਹੜੀਆਂ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਦੇ ਪੰਨਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਲਿਖਣੋਂ ਰਹਿ ਗਈਆਂ।

ਇਹ George Meredith ਦੀ ਲਿਖੀ ਕਵਿਤਾ chillianwala, chillianwala ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਹੈ । ਇਹਦੇ ਤੋਂ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਇਸ ਜੰਗ ਨੇ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਸਾਮਰਾਜ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਂਬਾ ਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ । ਚਿੱਲਿਆਂ ਆਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ ਸਿਪਾਹੀ ਆਵਦੀਆਂ ਜਾਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਵਦਾ ਮਾਣ ਸਨਮਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਅਣਖ ਸੱਭ ਗਵਾ ਆਏ ਸੀ ।

The 20/SP village in district of Pakpattan is an old village where S*khs used to live. An old Gurdwara building still stands. Village elders talk about the good things the S*khs did before they left. Even though S*khs are not here anymore, the elderly fondly remember their kindness and goodness.
