Rawalpindi: PTI Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan's sister, Aleema Khan has said her brother has asked to lodge case against Donald Lu in US.

Khan had been accusing Donald Lu for toppling his government.

Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail after meeting Imran Khan, Aleema Khan stated that the PTI Chairman's health is very good.

Aleema Khan said that a stay order has been issued from the High Court in the Cipher casem

Aleema Khan said, Imran Khan fears charges were being filed against him, which could result in the death penalty or life imprisonment.

Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has ordered a crackdown on underage drivers across Punjab.

This development comes after a family of six was k*lled in a road accident by an underage driver in Lahore’s Defence area.

Naqvi ordered strict action against underage drivers without any discrimination, “Underage drivers are not only a thr*at to others but themselves as well. Parents should not allow underage kids to drive cars and bikes,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered the authorities to arrest drivers driving without a license and expressed displeasure over the violation of traffic rules.

US President Joe Biden has nominated Adeel Mangi, a Karachi-born lawyer, to serve as a judge on a federal appeals court.

As reported by The Washington Post, if approved by the Democratic-controlled US Senate, Mangi, a Harvard and Oxford educated lawyer would make history as the first Muslim American to serve in this role.

The nomination is for the US Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit in Philadelphia, and it was announced alongside seven other judicial nominees.

Currently a partner at Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP, Mangi joined the firm in 2000 after completing his LLM at Harvard Law School. He holds a First Class Degree in Law from the University of Oxford and is a member of the Honorable Society of Lincoln's Inn.

Mangi has been actively involved in legal battles related to religious freedom, particularly representing the Muslim community during Donald Trump's presidency.

His nomination coincides with President Biden facing criticism from Muslim voters regarding increasing Islamophobia.

Two years ago, Biden appointed Zahid N Quraishi of Pakistani descent, as the first Muslim federal district court judge, who was confirmed by the US Senate for a judgeship in New Jersey.

A teenage boy was allegedly gang r*ped multiple times by four men in Mandi Bahauddin’s Chak 30 village.

The victim’s mother, a widow, alleged that her 13-year-old son was s*xually ab*sed by four villagers. They thr*atened him to not disclose their heinous act and continued to ab*se him for months, she added.

According to the police, the accused also shared the boy’s video on social media platforms.

The main accused was arrested while the rest obtained interim bail after the woman filed a case against them.

Former Pakistan cricketer Sikander Bakht has raised questions about possible toss manipulation by India captain Rohit Sharma in yesterday’s semifinal vs New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Sharing a clip from his Geo News programme on social media platform X, Bakht wrote, “Very strange the way Rohit Sharma throw the coin at toss, far away, don’t let other Captains to see, compare to other Captains in the WC, any reason??”

It is not just the former pacer who raised such concerns but many cricket enthusiasts also questioned the manner in which Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma flipped the coin, making it difficult for the opposing team captain to see it.

Videos circulating on social media show Rohit Sharma constantly throwing the coin far away during the tournament, rather than tossing it subtly in the air to ensure visibility on the designated black surface for the toss.

India reached the final of the World Cup 2023 after defeating New Zealand by 70 runs on Wednesday.

Previously, the British news outlet The Daily Mail reported that the BCCI had changed the pitch for the semifinal clash without the International Cricket Council's (ICC) permission.

The BCCI denied these allegations, maintaining that ICC pitch consultants oversee pitch allocation, eliminating the possibility of any cheating.

The family of a teenager, who was involved in a fatal road accident that left six family members dead in Lahore’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA), is pressuring the victims’ heirs to withdraw the case, according to a report by The News.

Rafaqat Ali and his family were returning home in Shadab Colony Housing Society on Ferozepur Road after visiting his daughter’s in-laws when a speeding car driven by the teenage boy caused the accident near Defence Phase VII. Six family members, including two minors, died in the collision.

The report quoted Ahsan, a close relative of the victims’ family, as saying that the police did not offer support in their pursuit of justice for the victims. He expressed shock and dismay at the pressure exerted by the accused’s family and demanded the maximum penalty for the accused.

Afnan has been arrested for alleged negligence, overspeeding, and reckless driving responsible for the accident.

Lahore Traffic police in continued crackdown against underage driving in the metropolitan have registered 351cases in two days and arrested drivers.

According to the police hundreds of vehicles were impounded during the crackdown.

The police urged the parents to not allow children below 18 years of age to drive a car or motorcycle because this will land the child and parents in hot waters.

The crackdown has been intensified after an underage boy crushed six people of a family to de*th in Lahore last week.

LAHORE: Former Test captain Mohammad Hafeez has been given the responsibility of Director – Pakistan Men’s Cricket Team. Mohammad Hafeez has featured for Pakistan in 55 Tests, 218 ODIs and 119 T20Is and has scored 12,780 runs and has taken 253 wickets.

Hafeez was recently part of the PCB Cricket Technical Committee. The former all-rounder was part of Pakistan Men’s team which won the ICC Champions Trophy in England in 2017.

The PCB has changed the portfolio of the Pakistan coaching staff. All coaches will continue to work in National Cricket Academy while PCB will announce the new coaching staff in due course for the upcoming series in Australia and New Zealand.

India on Wednesday broke New Zealand's jinx to qualify for the finale of the World Cup 2023, inflicting a 70-run defeat on the Kiwis in the semi-final.

Batting first, India scored 397 runs with the help of Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer centuries. The target was too much for the BlackCaps as they lost their two initial wickets with 39 runs on the board. Then Daryl Mitchell and Kane Williamson held the innings and put on over 150 runs in a healthy partnership.

India’s Virat Kohli has scored his 50th one-day ton to smash fellow countryman Sachin Tendulkar’s most ODIs centuries record.

Virat Kohli scored the record breaking century against New Zealand in the first semi-final of the ICC ODI World Cup at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday.

Kohli reached the milestone on 106 balls with eight fours and two sixes in the first knockout match of the tournament.

Kohli achieved the milestone in his 279th ODI match.

He has scored 50 centuries and 71 fifties in ODI career.

It is pertinent to note that earlier, the record for most ODI hundreds was held by Sachin Tendulkar.

The legendary batter played 463 ODI matches to score 49 centuries.

Babar Azam has resigned as Pakistan captain in all formats following their poor 2023 ODI World Cup campaign, where they failed to qualify for the semi-finals with just four wins in nine matches.

"I vividly remember the moment when I received the call from PCB to lead Pakistan in 2019. India’s Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer scored brilliant centuries to power the home side to a mammoth total of 397/4 against New Zealand in the first semi-final of the ICC World Cup 2023.

Rohit Sharma after winning the toss, decided to bat first.

Sharma and Shubman Gill provided good start to the Indian team. After Indian captain was dismissed for 47 runs, Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill built a partnership.

Virat Kohli joined Shubman Gill and together they knitted a solid 93-run partnership from 86 balls before Gill was retired hurt due to cramps.

Shreyas Iyer then joined Virat Kohli and they ran riot against New Zealand bowlers, adding 163 runs from 128 balls for the second wicket.

Virat Kohli broke two records during the partnership as went past Sachin Tendulkar’s 673 runs in the 2003 World Cup to score the most runs in a single edition of the World Cup with 701 runs.

Virat Kohli also became the first batter to score 50 centuries in ODI cricket leaving behind Sachin Tendulkar with 49 centuries.

A 25-year-old woman was allegedly ki*lled by her husband and father-in-law in the name of so-called honour in Peshawar, police said on Wednesday.

They said Noor Rehman and his father tied a noose around the victim’s neck and h*nged her in the Ibrahimabad area. They later called the woman’s father and brother to take away her body.

The police said both the suspects have been arrested with a m*rder case lodged against them at the Khazana police station.

Karachi police have arrested a suspect in connection with the m*rder of a young ride-hailing service driver in Karachi.

26-year-old Shahzaib Ansari, a resident of Hyderabad, was k*lled in the port city’s Gulistan-e-Hijri area.

The police said the suspect, identified as Samad, confessed to committing the crime in a carjacking adventure inspired by an online game, ‘Call of Duty’.

“I booked a ride with intention of k*lling the driver at some point like we do in the ‘Call of Duty’ game where we rob the car to make it ours,” the suspect said.

“I told him [victim] to give me the car but he refused to get out of the car, so I k*lled him.”

The suspect said that he had been playing this game since he was 18 years old and that he had previously attempted a similar adventure but failed.

Bushra Bibi, the wife of incarcerated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, on Wednesday approached the Islamabad High Court seeking a private meeting with her spouse in Adiala jail.

In her petition, Bushra states that she is allowed to meet the former prime minister on every Tuesday on the court’s order but she is unable to discuss family matters with him in the presence of jail officials.

PTI leader Sayed Zulfi Bukhari has said that the appointment of Usman Buzdar as the chief minister of Punjab was a huge mistake of the party.

Speaking at a seminar titled “Democracy in Crisis” in London, he claimed that former prime minister Imran Khan had realised the mistake of appointing Usman Buzdar as Punjab’s chief minister but then he had limited options to replace him because things got complicated politically as there were many groups within the party in Punjab who wanted to replace Buzdar.

The Bollywood hit ‘Tiger 3’ starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif has reportedly faced a ban in Gulf countries, including Qatar and Oman.

News reports suggest that the ban is allegedly linked to concerns about the film's negative portrayal of Muslims.

Indian entertainment portal ‘Koimoi’ speculated that the ban has been imposed due to a particular scene featuring the lead actress, Katrina Kaif, engaging in a towel fight.

While banned in Kuwait, the movie is available in Vox Cinemas Kuwait. However, it has not yet been released in Vox Cinemas in Qatar and Oman.

The ban is expected to impact the film's overseas earnings, given the Gulf's significance for Bollywood.

A snippet from Farhan Saeed’s old interview is circulating on social media in which the acclaimed singer and actor revealed that he was once offered a Bollywood role alongside Indian actor Urvashi Rautela, but he eventually opted not to take the project.

In an interview with ‘Something Haute’, the ‘Sajni’ vocalist recounted his experiences of performing in India and the popularity of his celebrated pop music band 'Jal,' which led to acting offers in Bollywood movies.

“When we used to perform as ‘Jal’ in India, I used to get a lot of acting offers. You know, in India, whoever rises to prominence invites acting offers,” Saeed said.

“We used to laugh at it and refuse those offers.”

Farhan narrated an anecdote about a time when he was almost cast in a Bollywood movie. “I was locked in a movie with Mithun Chakroborthy's son. We met and they finalised me for a musician's role,” the ‘Suno Chanda’ actor disclosed.

Looking back at the opportunity, he appreciated the decision to decline the offer, stating, "Thankfully, I didn't do it.”

The multitalented artist further revealed that the film, initially set to mark the Bollywood debuts of both himself and actress Urvashi Rautela, encountered an unexpected turn of events.

“Urvashi Rautela and I were supposed to debut with the movie. Both of us backed out together from the project after having a conversation on a call,” Saeed added.

In a clip going viral, former Pakistan skipper and ex-chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq claimed that former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh was close to converting to Islam after listening to Islamic scholar Maulana Tarqi Jamil.

Inzamam revealed that while Pakistani players used to offer prayers they would also invite Indian players to join them.

“Maulana Tariq Jamil would join us daily. We had a designated prayer room where we would offer the Maghrib prayer and then listen to Tariq Jamil. We used to invite Indian Muslim cricketers, Irfan Pathan, Mohammad Kaif, and Zaheer Khan, to join us for prayers. Some non-Muslim Indian players also accompanied them and listened to Maulana’s sermon,” he recalled.

“On one occasion, Harbhajan said, ‘I am impressed with this man [Maulana Tariq Jamil] and want to follow his words'. I asked him, What's holding you back, then? Harbhajan replied, I hesitate because of you. I asked why my presence would stop him from converting to Islam. Harbhajan responded because your life is not like his.”

Inzamam cited the incident to illustrate his point that when people distance themselves from the teachings of religion, particularly modesty, they struggle to make a positive impact on others.

Harbhajan Singh turned to social media platform ‘X’ and vehemently denied the story and said that he is a 'proud Sikh'.

Fast-bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has emerged as a strong contender to replace Babar Azam as the new T20 and ODI captain.

According to media reports, the PCB Management Committee has decided to relieve Babar as the white-ball captain.

They said Afridi will lead Pakistan in the T20 World Cup that will be jointly hosted by West Indies and the US in June 2024.

It has been left to Babar Azam to decide whether he wants to continue as captain in Test cricket. If he quits as the captain of the Test team or decides to opt out of the upcoming Australia tour, Shan Masood will be a strong contender for the Test captaincy.

Babar is expected to meet PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf today to share his future plan after which an official announcement will be made.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly decided to remove Babar Azam as the captain in all formats.

Babar was appointed white-ball captain in 2019 and as Test skipper in 2021, but the Green Shirts have not won any title of ICC, Asia Cup, and now the World Cup 2023 under his leadership.

If Babar decides to submit his resignation, the board would accept it and if he doesn’t do so, the PCB will strip him of the captaincy, Geo News reported, quoting sources.

Shan Masood is being billed as a strong candidate for the captain's slot in the upcoming Test series against Australia while Shaheen Shah Afridi might lead the T20I series in New Zealand, and the next year’s T20 World Cup.

Babar Azam is scheduled to meet PCB Management Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf later today and it is expected that an announcement related to his captaincy will be made after the meeting.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is under fire for allegedly changing the pitch for the upcoming World Cup 2023 semifinal between Team India and New Zealand to suit the hosts.

British news outlet The Daily Mail reported that the BCCI has changed the pitch for the semifinal clash, scheduled for Wednesday, without the permission of the International Cricket Council (ICC).

It said that India could do the same if they qualify for the final too.

The BCCI and the ICC had previously agreed that Wednesday's game at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium was supposed to be played on No 7, an entirely fresh surface. However, a WhatsApp message circulated on Tuesday to a group of more than 50 BCCI and ICC officials confirmed that the first semi-final had been moved to pitch No 6, the report said.

On the other hand, the Indian board has denied any wrongdoings saying, “The ICC independent pitch consultant works with the host and venues on their proposed pitch allocations and this process is ongoing throughout an event of this length and nature.”

Former cricketer Abdul Razzaq has issued an apology to Bollywood diva Aishwarya Rai for drawing an inappropriate analogy during his analysis on the Pakistan team’s performance.

While apologising for his inappropriate remarks, Razzaq said, “I had a slip of the tongue while talking about cricket, coaching and intentions at a press conference. I wanted to quote another example though I mistakenly used Aishwarya Rai’s name; it shouldn’t have happened. I did not intend to disrespect her. I really apologise to her.”

Earlier, Abdul Razzaq while addressing the issues regarding cricket at an event gave an example to clarify his point. He said, “If one marries Aishwarya with the intention of having pious kids, it is not possible.” He made the statement in a very candid way while others laughed.

Shahid Afridi, who was also present at the event, later urged Razzaq to apologise over his remarks and deplored that such statements should not have been made. Following this, Razzaq promptly released an apology video.

Razzaq's comments stirred outrage on social media, with many criticising him for his misogynistic remarks to emphasise a point that was already clear even without that peculiar statement.

Former cricket star Shahid Afridi expressed his disappointment over Abdul Razzaq's statement during a recent event.

Razzaq, at a gathering of cricket stars from the 2009 T20 World Cup-winning team, made controversial comments against Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai using her as an example to take a dig at the Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) state of affairs.

Speakign to Samaa News, Afridi expressed his displeasure, saying, “During yesterday's event, Razzaq said something that I didn’t understand at first but I clearly knew that he has the mic in his hands and he will say something offensive because he has a penchant for puns, I started laughing normally as everybody did.”

“When I got back home someone sent me a clip of what he stated there and when I listened to it carefully I was like, come on Rizzi," he continued.

Afridi vowed to ask him to apologise over his statement because "it was very bad joke".
