Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad ﷺ had immense respect for Hazrat Usman (رضي الله عنه) . On one occasion, the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was lying down in a room casually with his beloved wife Hazrat Ayesha s.a. Hazrat Abu Bakar (رضي الله عنه) followed by Hazrat Umer (رضي الله عنه) came to discuss some issue but Hazrat Muhammad ﷺ remained lying casually.
Suddenly Hazrat Usman (رضي الله عنه) knocked the door and upon the permission granted to come in, Hazrat Muhammad ﷺ instantly sat up and began adjusting his clothes. Later when Hazrat Ayesha (رضي الله عنه) asked Muhammad ﷺ that you didn't change your casual posture for Hazrat AbuBakar o Umer (رضي الله عنه) but for Hazrat Usman (رضي الله عنه). Why? Muhammad ﷺ replied, “Should I not show modesty to one whom even the Angels [Farishtay] show modesty.”
(Sahih Al-Bukhari)
Today on 18th Zilhijja, the sad demise of Khalifa tul Muslimeen Hazrat Usman (رضي الله عنه) brings a sorrowful day for the Muslim Ummah, when the Damaad e Rasool ﷺ was brutally murdered by the Munafiqeens. Even during that period where members of his household were under threat due to the invasion of his house, immediately prior to his martyrdom, he bore all those afflictions with great patience and loyalty to the cause of Islam. He was, indeed, a true servant of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
The previous night Ameer ul Momineen Hazrat Usman (رضي الله عنه) had seen the Holy Prophet in a dream. The Holy Prophet had said, "Usman, break your fast with us this evening. We will welcome you". That made (رضي الله عنه) feel that it was his last day of life. He prepared himself for death. He sat reading the Holy, Quran, and his wife Naila sat by his side.
The only weapons that were with Hazrat Usman was his kindness, patience and his soft nature. The insurgents soon climbed the back walls of the house and entered the room where Hazrat Usman (رضي الله عنه) was reciting the Holy Qur'an. One of the insurgents hit his head with an axe while the next struck him with a sword.
His wife, Hazrat Nailah tried to shield her husband and threw herself on the body of Hazrat Usman (رضي الله عنه)
to protect him. She was pushed aside, and further blows were struck on Usman (رضي الله عنه) till he was dead. From God he had come and to God he returned. He died while keeping the fast, and true to his dream he broke the fast in the company of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ that evening.
From God he had come, to God he returned. Today marks the martyrdom anniversary of Zun-nurayn Hazrat Usman bin Affan (رضي الله عنه)
