WhatsApp, a Meta-owned application, is currently experimenting with a new feature that enables users to log in to their computer using an email address.

While the messaging platform continues to function as usual with the existing login method, this new feature will allow users on iOS and Android devices to add their email address to the application.

This development aims to address the challenges faced by users who frequently travel without a roaming mobile plan, thereby providing them with an alternative means of accessing their WhatsApp accounts from any location worldwide.

The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) is actively engaged in formulating a financial system and policy structure to introduce PayPal and Stripe payment gateways in Pakistan. The objective of this initiative is to enrich the payment ecosystem for the thriving IT industry in the country by integrating these international payment gateways into the global financial framework of the IT industry, stated Muhammad Zohaib Khan, Chairman of Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA).

Khan underscored the pivotal role played by Federal Caretaker Minister for Information Technology and Telecom, Dr. Umar Saif, in drawing global attention to Pakistan's IT industry during the GITEX Dubai 2023 event.

Citing Saif, Khan revealed that the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom is actively working towards launching the Pakistan Startup Fund. This initiative is expected to attract venture capitalists to Pakistan and foster the growth of the startup culture in the nation.

The fund will be established using resources from IGNITE, the National Technology Fund, which receives funding from the telecom industry revenues of the federal government.

Khan also highlighted the establishment of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), which has received accolades from the United Arab Emirates (UAE). SIFC has identified IT as one of its five primary focus areas.

The Chairman of P@SHA stressed the significance of innovation and financial inclusion in driving rapid growth in the IT and IT-enabled Services (ITeS) industry.

Notably, the IT sector in Pakistan holds several noteworthy distinctions, including being the sole major industry in the country with a trade surplus, the potential to generate up to $5 billion in foreign exchange within a year, the capacity to bridge Pakistan's trade deficit, and the capability to stabilize the economy by creating high-paying employment opportunities.

In the first half of 2023, Pakistan was ranked third globally for imposing internet restrictions, according to a report by Surfshark, a virtual private network company. During this period, Pakistan was responsible for three out of the 42 new internet restrictions worldwide.

These restrictions were implemented following the arrest of former prime minister Imran Khan on May 9. During that time, access to popular social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube was restricted in the country, and temporary cellular network disruptions were also witnessed.

The report indicates that Pakistan ranked behind Iran and India in terms of internet restrictions during this period, with Asia being the region with the highest number of internet shutdowns. Iran had the most internet disruptions with 14 cases, all related to protests over the Zahedan massacre. India closely followed Iran, with at least nine cases, most of which occurred during protests.

The report also mentioned two separate internet shutdowns in 'Jammu and Kashmir,' which were ostensibly ordered by the Indian government, bringing India's count to 11 instances of internet shutdowns in the first half of 2023. Protests were cited as the main cause of government-imposed internet restrictions, with more than two-thirds of the new disruptions triggered by public outrage over social and political issues.

مکہ مکرمہ: یکم محرم الحرام سے شروع ہونے والے نئے اسلامی سال کے آغاز پر غلاف کعبہ تبدیل کردیا گیا۔

عرب میڈیا کے مطابق غلاف کعبہ کی تبدیلی کا عمل نماز عشاء کے بعد شروع کیا گیا جو 3 سے 4 گھنٹوں میں مکمل ہوا۔ غلاف کعبہ ریشم، سونے اور چاندی کے تار سے سلائی اور کڑھائی کرکے تیار کیا جاتا ہے۔ نیا غلاف کعبہ 2 کروڑ سعودی ریال سے زائد لاگت سے تیار کیا گیا ہے۔

خانہ کعبہ کے غلاف کی تبدیلی کے وقت چاروں اطراف حفاظتی رکاوٹیں لگائی گئیں تھیں۔ پہلے پرانے غلاف کعبہ کو چاروں طرف سے انتہائی احتیاط اور مہارت کے ساتھ اتارا گیا جبکہ غلاف کو اوپر تک پہنچانے کیلئے الیکٹرونک لفٹرز استعمال کیے گئے۔ اس موقع پر موجود سیکڑوں عازمین نے غلاف کعبہ کی تبدیلی کا روح پرور نظارہ دیکھا۔

غلاف کعبہ پرسونے اور چاندی سے قرآنی آیات دل کش انداز میں تحریر کی گئی ہیں۔ غلاف کعبہ عمومی طور پر 16 ٹکڑوں پر مشتمل ہوتا ہے جس کی لمبائی 50 فٹ اور چوڑائی 35 سے 40 فٹ کے درمیان ہوتی ہے۔

Two students, Sumaya Bhutto and Tohftul-Nisa Mirani, from Shah Abdul Latif University in Khairpur, have developed a drone ambulance model aimed at assisting individuals affected by floods. Showcasing their prototype at the annual Science Expo, the students harnessed drone technology to enhance healthcare delivery in challenging areas.

The drone ambulance can reach inaccessible locations and deliver vital medications and first aid to stranded individuals.

It can also identify those in need of assistance. Controlled remotely through a mobile phone or laptop, the drone features a 1000 KV motor, enabling a flight time of 30-40 minutes at a speed of 70 meters per hour. With a maximum load capacity of 30 kg, the drone incorporates a built-in first aid box.

Sumaya Bhutto emphasized that the drone, referred to as an air ambulance, has the potential to carry even heavier payloads with more powerful motors.
