Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar on Wednesday said that the government was lifting all Covid-19 related restrictions across the country as Pakistan "has come close to eliminating the pandemic".

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, he said, "We have decided that all restrictions we have imposed related to the coronavirus on weddings, indoor dining and markets, we are ending all of them."

He added, however, that all restrictions on those not vaccinated against the coronavirus would remain.

The minister said the government would keep monitoring the disease prevalence on a daily basis.

Lahore Qalandars defeat Multan Sultans by 42 runs and bag their first Pakistan Super League (PSL) in seven editions.

The Sultans got off to a bad start in their 181-run chase as their top order was demolished early on and failed to deliver. Mohammad Rizwan was dismissed for 14, Shan Masood 19, and Aamer Azmat 6.

The Qalandars' bowlers were impressive as Shaheen Afridi picked up three wickets, Mohammad Hafeez and Zaman Khan two each, and Haris Rauf and David Wiese one each.

Earlier, Lahore Qalandars had handed a 181-run target to Multan Sultans.

PM Imran Khan and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday held a one on one meeting in Moscow with a wide-ranging agenda in focus relating to bilateral matters and regional developments.

The two leaders reviewed the entire array of bilateral relations including economic and energy cooperation, particularly the Pakistan Stream gas pipeline.

The regional situation including the developing scenario of Ukraine also came under discussion.

Pakistan has questioned the US decision of putting aside half of the Afghan assets held in the US for the victims of the 9/11 attacks, saying utilization of Afghan funds must be the “sovereign decision of Afghanistan.”

Legendary Indian singer Lata Mangeshkar died at the age of 92. She was under treatment in the ICU over the last couple of weeks.

She was also diagnosed with pneumonia.

According to the medical team treating the singing legend, Lata Mangeshkar died due to multi-organ failure.

Lata Mangeshkar was born in 1929. She stepped into singing at the age of 13 and recorded her first song in 1942.

In her career spanning seven decades, she has to her credit over 30,000 songs in different languages.

The government has announced two-day mourning in memory of Lata Mangeshkar.

The Senate unanimously passed a resolution to show solidarity with innocent Kashmiris in connection with Kashmir Solidarity Day, during a session that was chaired by a Hindu senator.
Senator Krishna Kumari Kohli chaired the session and was welcomed by the loud thumping of desks as she sat on the chair's seat.
"A Hindu presiding [over] the Senate session on Kashmir in Pakistan. Chairman Senate [asked] our colleague Krishna Kumari Kohli to do the honor. In connection with , it's a strong message going out depicting [the] difference between Pakistan and Hindustan," Senator Faisal Javed Khan said on Twitter.

In her tweet, Kohli said it was a "great honor".

The US has replied to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's comments in the Indian parliament, Lok Sabha, that the policies adopted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi have brought Pakistan and China closer.
The United States State Department spokesperson Ned Price categorically refused to "support" such a statement on Washington's behalf and said, "Pakistan is our strategic partner".
"I'll let Pakistanis and the PRC (People's Republic of China) speak for themselves about their relationship. These remarks will certainly not be supported by me," Price said during a regular press briefing.
The US said it values its relationship with Pakistan while emphasizing that there was no requirement, as far as Washington was concerned, for other countries to choose between the US and China.
“We’ve made the point all along that it is not a necessity for any country around the world to decide between the United States and China,” Spokesman Ned Price told reporters when asked if Pakistan and China have become closer because “they feel abandoned” by the US.

PPP's Yousuf Raza Gilani announced that he had resigned as Opposition Leader in the Senate during a speech in the upper house of parliament.

Gilani was among 8 opposition senators who were absent in last Friday's Senate session, which permitted the PTI govt to narrowly manage to get the important State Bank of Pakistan (Amendment) Bill passed from the opposition-controlled house — a development that had raised many eyebrows.

In indirect regard to his absence from Friday's session, Gilani said "some turncoats" were blaming him of helping the govt.

"I am not astonished by the harsh words from my enemies, but I am astonished by the silence of my well-wishers," he said.

The Punjab Police has suggested a banning on PUBG after a teenage boy shot dead 4 of his family members in the city's Khana area.

According to initial investigations, Ali Zain was addicted to PUBG and shot his mother, sisters, and brother imagining that they would be resurrected like in the game, a police official said.

After this, Zain went to sleep in the lower part of the house and later went into hiding in a village near Faisalabad, sources in the law enforcement said.

A spokesperson of the police told the media that after going through the details of the incident, the Punjab Police has decided to suggest a ban of the "dangerous game" to the federal and provincial governments.

“It is vital to ban the PUBG to stop these violent acts.”
