Terrorists opened fire on a security check-point in the Kohst area of Balochistan's Harnai district on Sunday, killing two Pakistan Army soldiers and injuring an officer, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Terrorists raided a security forces post on the night of August 13 and were successfully repulsed, according to the military's media wing. In the meantime, security forces pursued the fleeing terrorists into the nearby mountains. During the heavy exchange of fire, Naik Atif and Sepoy Qayyum accepted martyrdom, while Major Umar was injured, according to the ISPR, who also stated that the terrorists suffered heavy losses.
On the eve of Pakistan's 75th Independence Day, security forces remain determined to thwart attempts to undermine the country's peace, stability, and progress, according to the ISPR. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the terrorist attack on a security checkpoint in Kohst district, near Harnai, Balochistan, on Saturday night.
In a message, the prime minister expressed his grief and sorrow over the martyrdom of Naik Atif and Sepoy Qayyum, who foiled terrorists' nefarious plans. He prayed to Allah Almighty to raise the martyrs' ranks in paradise and to give courage to bereaved families to bear the loss. He also prayed for Major Umar, who was injured in the attack, to recover quickly. He said the Pakistani nation would never forget the sacrifices of martyrs.
