ISLAMABAD: The legal woes for Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed grew as another case was filed against him Saturday for using foul language against Foreign Minister Bilawal-Bhutto Zardari.
The former interior minister — a close aide of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan — is facing three different cases registered recently in Muree, Islamabad and Karachi, for hurling murder plot allegations against former president Asif Ali Zardari, threatening police personnel and passing "offensive" and "filthy" comments against Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, respectively.
Rashid is currently in police custody since his arrest from Murree Motorway on February 2 in the first case.
It may be noted that Rashid had just filed a plea seeking restraining orders against registration of further cases against him "on the basis of his political statements", earlier in the day.
In the plea filed in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) through his lawyer Sardar Abdul Razzaq Khan, Rashid sought restraining orders against his transfer from the federal capital to Karachi.

Pakistan players, who had previously been told to ensure their return to Pakistan by February 2, have been allowed to participate in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) till February 8, sources said Tuesday.
However, the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) decision is only applicable to those players who are not part of the upcoming exhibition match in Quetta between Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators.
Players who are set to participate in the exhibition match on February 5 have been asked to return home by February 2.
Earlier, all the players had been advised by the PCB to return to the country by February 2, eleven days before the PSL 8 is to start in Multan. The PCB had said that it has recalled the players who would be playing in PSL 8 due to the request of the franchises who urged for their return.
It is worth mentioning here that top players of the national T20 side including Mohammad Rizwan, Haris Rauf, Iftikhar Ahmed, and Naseem Shah, along with others, are participating in BPL 2023.
Earlier, PCB chairman Najam Sethi instructed all players that their participation in the exhibition match scheduled in Quetta is mandatory.
In no ambiguous terms, Sethi said “It's our contractual right that whenever we want our players, we can call them back anytime from anywhere. This happens all around the world. I know they want to earn money by completing their contract, but we need them to fulfil our national interest.”
It must be noted that the opening ceremony of PSL 8 will be held in Multan on February 13 prior to the tournament opener between 2021 winners Multan Sultans and defending champions Lahore Qalandars; closing ceremony and final will be played on March 19 in Lahore, which will also host play-offs.Lahore Qalandars will attempt to become the first side to win back-to-back titles; meanwhile Islamabad United will aim to become the most successful side by lifting the trophy thrice.Rawalpindi will stage 11 fixtures, Karachi and Lahore will host nine matches each, whereas Multan will have five home games.

At least 32 people have been killed and 150 injured in a bombing at a mosque in the Pakistani city of Peshawar.

A section of the building was destroyed and officials say people are buried under the rubble.

Most of those who died were part of the police force, and it is believed they were the target of the attack.

Early reports said a bomber sitting in the front row had blown himself up, but this has not been confirmed and no group has admitted the bombing.

Muhammad Ijaz Khan, Peshawar capital city police officer, told local media that between 300 and 400 police officials were present in the area at the time of the blast.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned it. In a statement, Mr Sharif said those behind the incident "have nothing to do with Islam".

He added: "The entire nation is standing united against the menace of terrorism."

The blast took place during afternoon prayers in the north-western city, around 13:30 (08:30 GMT), near the country's border with Afghanistan.

A video circulating social media and verified by the green wave pak that half of a wall has caved in. The mosque is covered in bricks and debris as people clamber over the rubble to escape.

A rescue operation is continuing inside the mosque and "more bodies are being taken out," Peshawar city Deputy Commissioner Shafiullah Khan said.

"Currently our priority is to save people buried under the debris," Mr Khan added. Mohammad Asim, a spokesman for the Lady Reading Hospital, said that some of those injured were in a critical condition.

"It's an emergency situation," Mr Asim added.

Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar declared an emergency, and they told the BBC they were still receiving those injured during the explosion - and are calling for blood donations.

Pakistan Taliban are among groups that have carried out attacks in the past. They ended a ceasefire in November, and violence has been on the rise since.

Last March, Peshawar was the target of another bombing, which killed dozens in a Shia mosque.

In the capital, Islamabad Police issued a security high-alert and said security at all entry and exit points to the city had been increased.

Taliban ministers have told a senior UN official they plan to draw up new guidelines to allow Afghan women to work in some humanitarian operations.
Martin Griffiths told the BBC he had received "encouraging responses" from a wide range of Taliban ministers during talks in Kabul, even if last month's edict banning Afghan women working for NGOs is not reversed.
With Afghan women playing a crucial role in delivering aid, there is concern the ban is endangering urgent life-saving humanitarian operations in the country.
"It's worth remembering that, this year, Afghanistan is the biggest humanitarian aid programme in the world ever," Mr Griffiths, the UN's Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, told me in Kabul.
The aid arithmetic is staggering. This year, agencies will try to reach 28 million Afghans, more than half the population, including six million who are, Mr Griffiths says, "knocking on famine's door".
This year is Afghanistan's coldest winter in a decade, and it's been cruel. In the past two weeks, more than 126 Afghans have perished in freezing temperatures, collapsing from hypothermia, or overcome by toxic fumes from gas heaters.
And winter's icy blast strikes a people already living, perilously, on the edge. Providing aid to Afghanistan is of epic proportions too.
In a mud-and-straw home perched perilously on a steeply-sloped hill blanketed in snow in Parwan province north of Kabul, we met one family whose complaints were as bitter as the cold.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president, Jay Shah, dropped a bombshell in October 2022, saying that the Indian team will not be travelling to Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023. Hearing this, the Pakistan management was furious and a war of words began on social media. The then-chairman, Ramiz Raja, went a step further and stated that the Men in Green will boycott the ODI World Cup in 2023, if India decides not to participate in the continental cup or if their right to host is snatched.

Since then, PCB officials were eager to get in touch with Jay Shah but that didn’t happen as of yet. However, new PCB chief, Najam Sethi has confirmed that the ACC officials have finally decided to meet the governing body and a decision on the future of the Asia Cup will soon be made.
“Finally, we have a date now to meet ACC officials. I will attend ACC's meeting on February 4 in Bahrain. I am not sure about our stance for now; I will decide it in the meeting, keeping an eye on the situation,” said Sethi.

The 74-year-old, however, is cautious and expects BCCI to demand more in the meeting. He even took a dig at the Indian board saying that the Men in Blue are never allowed to travel to Pakistan but the board expects Pakistani players to do the same.
“BCCI wants Pakistan to travel to India, but BCCI doesn't want India to play in Pakistan. This is not something new for us,” he added.

According to a UNICEF report, around 22.8 million children between the ages of 5 to 16 are out of school in Pakistan. Unsurprisingly, these kids can neither read nor write, as a result of which they are labelled as illiterate or uneducated.

Some scholars believe that such labelling is unjustified because children do not stay out of school purposely or willingly. Their socio-economic conditions or even geographical locations don’t allow them to join a school. Therefore, children have not failed to reach school; the school has failed to reach these children.

The solution suggested in this case is a concept known as ‘de-schooling’, which is defined as ‘the process of adapting to a less formal education where children often take control of what and how to learn’.

This refers to alternative modes of learning. Although such modes of learning already exist in Pakistan, out-of-school children cannot benefit from them due to lack of awareness, language barriers, and seemingly no financial rewards.

To increase revenue and drive sustainable growth in a competitive tech industry, companies often add advertising as a way to monetize their traffic or allow advertisers to drive traffic to their own sites or listings within a marketplace.

Similarly, monetizing their digital assets, Krave Mart, an online grocery application that delivers groceries and everyday essentials at doorsteps has now become home to multiple local & international brands across Pakistan. Well, this may come off as a surprise, but Krave Mart has its Non Retail business pioneering the new vertical monarchy rapidly. In turn, this has helped the market transform its conventional advertising solutions into a faster, more effective and measurable solution.
