The Department of Communication and Media Studies at the University of Sargodha recently organized an art exhibition and community engagement program focused on the themes of local art and digital media. The event was inaugurated by renowned policy advisor, columnist, and media analyst Salman Abid; social activist and advisor Mehvish Khan; Head of the Women Development Centre, Dr. Nargis Abbas; and the Chairman of the Department of Communication and Media Studies, University of Sargodha Dr. Mudassar Hussain Shah
The exhibition showcased innovative ideas developed by students for branding and product promotion, alongside unique forms of artistic self-expression. The primary goal was to encourage and highlight indigenous artistic expression and explore avenues for promoting it internationally via social media.
Speaking at the community engagement program, Salman Abid emphasized the potential of local art in the global market. He noted, “The world is constantly seeking new and innovative ideas, and there is immense potential for our local culture, art, and expression to be marketed internationally. Art and culture are emerging as valuable currency worldwide, and it’s time for our young generation to recognize this new market.”
Dr. Mudassar Hussain Shah also addressed the gathering, highlighting the University of Sargodha’s commitment to fostering innovation and technological entrepreneurship under the leadership of the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaiser Abbas. He added, “This exhibition and community engagement program reflect our vision to empower students economically and enable them to become self-sustaining. We are working closely with the community to enhance productivity and contribute to economic development.”
The event was moderated by Dr. Tariq Nawaz, Coordinator of Student Affairs, adding to the program’s success.
This initiative marks a significant step by the University of Sargodha in supporting creative industries and promoting economic independence through culture-driven entrepreneurship.
