If good is good, better is…well, it’s more good…so perfection must be the best, right?

WRONG. On so many levels.

Perfection is a beautiful concept — but it doesn’t really exist.

Perfection only exists in the context of true black or white scenarios. A life well-lived doesn’t have too many of those.

Have you heard of a perfect diamond? Those don’t exist, unless they’re lab-created. The presence of imperfections is exactly how they tell natural diamonds apart from imposters like cubic zirconia.
Have you heard of a perfect face? The closer you get to this, the more likely you’re a runway model, but everyone has some asymmetry.

Perfect salary? Well that one’s easy, more than I’m making now.
Perfect relationship? “Yes my dear, this one!”
Perhaps now you agree: life simply is NOT black or white, and it is not always quantifiable, and believing otherwise makes the pursuit of perfection very dangerous when it comes to maximizing growth.

What you might have noticed as we went through the question exercise above, is that not only does perfection not really exist, but in most cases it is just a perception.

Surprise! You’re not perfect, and neither am I.
Recognize there’s no magic cure, no magic pill, no shortcut.

✨📸👯‍♂️You need to be flexible to whatever conditions you find, and be able to think on your feet as this is a fast-paced environment.
Gear wise, you’ll need a very fast lens in order to capture the movement of the models in low light conditions.
The focal length will depend on what you’re shooting, as runway photography can incorporate everything from atmospheric shots to full-length outfits, three-quarter crops, and detail shots of accessories.
Because runway photographers often need to capture a mix of these, zoom lenses are preferable to primes.
Fashion show press pits are notoriously small and packed, so setting up a tripod can be difficult. A monopod can be a great alternative.
Either way, you’ll need some way to stabilize your gear – otherwise, your arms will tire, and you’ll find it near impossible to capture clear shots..

Images are more effective than text at evoking emotion from your viewers — that often means getting your photos to say something.
