Why is k2 called k2?
K2 (8,611m) was discovered in 1856 by Col. T.G Montgomerie during the survey of India, and it was given the name K2 because it was the second peak measured in the Karakoram mountains range. K2 is also known as Godwin-Austin Peak and Chogori in local Balti Language. K2 rises steep from Baltoro Glacier at about 4,570 metres (15,000 feet) which makes it one of the most difficult mountain to climb.

What is k2 base camp?
K2 Base camp is a camp site at the bottom of K2 which is relative a safe place out of the fall line of avalanches. It is the place where K2 climbing teams set up their tents and base which will be use for communication and goods supplies. K2 base camp is one of the the biggest base camp for mountaineers who wants to conquer this majestic Peak.

Where is k2 base camp?
K2 Base camp is in the Karakoram mountain range of Gilgit–Baltistan, Pakistan. Gilgit Baltistan is the north region of Pakistan, bordering China and India. You can reach K2 base camp only by foot by trekking from Askole that takes 9-10 days of trekking. Askole is the last civilization before you start trek to K2 Base camp....
