Heartiest Congrats Sirbaz!
Sirbaz Khan, who started his career as a mountain porter, made history today by conquering all 14 8000ers. Well done Sirbaz!
By climbing the last of the 14 peaks he became the first Pakistani to have achieved this feat.
Our very own Broadboy is not so far behind as he is ascending the last of the 14 peaks as I write this and he will become the youngest climber to climb all 8000ers at the age of 22.

1988 was the year when I got the real bug of mountains and mountains became my first love (don't bother telling my betterhalf as she already knows that). This was the year when there are attacks in Northern Areas of Pakistan and I was backpacking and camping despite warnings from the authorities. I had to abandon my campsites a few times due to unusual activities in the areas. The time was dire for the local people as they didn't know who was their friend and who was their enemy. Really sad!
However, I experienced the core of the local hospitality where I was helped to get rescued and even hide sometimes. This was the defining year for my future travels as this was setting tone, it tested my resilience and endurance. This month long backpacking trip made the traveler Adeel Akbar.

There is so much in this one frame. The famous Mackinaw Bridge (once the longest suspension bridge in the world), the Mackinaw Light House (Lighthouses have played an important role in marine navigation history), and The Mackinaw Straight that divides Lake Huron and Lake Michigan, both these lakes are the 2nd and 3rd largest lakes of the Great Lakes. With the Mackinaw Straight, these two lakes combined would become the largest freshwater lake in the world.
