Textbook of Community Medicine and Public Health include my four stories on Mental Health. The 716-page first volume of the textbook appeared a couple of years ago while the second volume is under editing process. I feel very proud that my stories on Mental health will be read by academics as well as students in medical colleges and universities across the world. Paramount Books (Pvt.) Ltd. has published the book. The book has been edited by Saira Afzal and Sabeena Jalal. These stories were published in The News where I worked for 11 long years in the capacity of special correspondent, special project-II. I interviwed Sabeena Jalal twice: once at the Investigative Cell of The News; secondly, at Dow University of Health Sciences, Ojha campus. I have very fond memories of Dow Medical College. I frequented the place since 1968 when I was a college student. I have great friends there.Once Sabeena Jalal invited me at lunch. I wanted to smoke after lunch. She said:"Doctor hoon Shahid sahib. Aap ko cigarette peanay ke ijazat keasay day doon? (I am a doctor Shahid sahib. How can I allow you to smoke?"Long ago I read an article in Dawn that said Ni****ne is more addictive than he**in but I have plans to have de-toxification and quit smoking. I have been told Sabeena Jalal is currently at Harvard.

I worked for 11 long years at The News International as special correspondent, secial project-II. Now I am contributing to The News on Sunday. My eight stories have been used by the editors at The News on Sunday. I hope to contribute more for TNS>

My first book Khoab ly lo khoab (Take Away my Dreams) was launched at the heritage building of Karachi Press Club on November 2, 2013. My dear old friend and colleague Anil Datta covered the event. My three books have been published and received well. This year I will be working on my fourth book based on my hypothesis, "Relationship between Nature and Homo-sapiens." I hope to write a 100-page book if all goes well. My hypothesis has been approved by three eminent scientists and educationists. Paul Brown environment correspondent in London of The Guardian in 1997 has written the preface of my fourth book. He now writes a weekly column for The Guardian, conducts workshops and writes books. He continues to send me his wondeful books. I am also contributing to The News International. I worked there for 11 long years as special correspondent, special project-2 and filed thousands of stories.
