Higher Education Commission took control of their President's Trophy Grade-I match against Khan Research Laboratories on Day 2 at the NBP Sports Complex, Karachi. HEC were bowled out for 137, with Uzair Mumtaz scoring 26. KRL's Arshadullah took 5-31. In response, KRL were bowled out for 183, with Saad Baig top-scoring with 66. HEC were 208-5 in 65 overs at the close of play, leading by 162 runs.

State Bank of Pakistan dominated Pakistan Television on Day 2 of their President's Trophy Grade-I match at the SBP Sports Complex, Karachi. PTV were bowled out for 93, with Shamyl Hussain scoring 27. SBP's Mohammad Ismail took 4-19. In response, SBP declared their innings at 414-9, with Umar Amin top-scoring with 101. PTV were 52-0 in 18 overs at the close of play, trailing by 269 runs.

Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited took a slim one-run lead over Oil and Gas Development Company Limited on Day 2 of their President's Trophy Grade-I match at the UBL Sports Complex, Karachi. OGDCL were bowled out for 197, with Abdul Rehman Muzammil scoring 68. SNGPL's Mohammad Hamza took 4-33. In response, SNGPL were dismissed for 198, with Shahzaib Khan top-scoring with 76. OGDCL were 91-5 in 31 overs at the close of play.

From David Warner to Kane Williamson, Alzarri Joseph, Mark Chapman, michael bracewell, Kyle Jamieson to Daryl Mitchell, we'll analyze the draft picks, team compositions, and strengths and weaknesses of each squad.

But that's not all, We'll also be discussing the pathetic quality of broadcasting during the draft, which left many fans disappointed and frustrated.

Furthermore, we'll be shedding light on the talented young players who were shockingly ignored by the franchises during the draft. Players like Azan Owais, Muhammad Huraira, SahabZada Farhan, Shahnawaz, Dahani, Shahzeb Khan, Muhammad Shahzad, Mubassir Khan, Aftab Ibrahim, and many more, were overlooked despite their impressive performances in the Under-19 and Emerging categories, as well as some senior domestic performers.

Match officials announced for Test series against West Indies

Multan, 15 January 2025:

Sri Lanka’s Ranjan Madugalle, who is a member of ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, will lead the playing control teams for the two ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 fixtures between hosts Pakistan and West Indies.

The two Tests are set to be played in Multan from 17-29 January. For the first Test, Australia’s Rodney Tucker and England’s Richard Kettleborough – both ICC Elite Panel Umpires, will be the on-field umpires. Paul Reiffel, also from Australia and member of ICC Elite Panel of Umpires will be the third umpire, while Pakistan’s Faisal Khan Aafreedi – an ICC International Panel Umpire, will act as the fourth umpire.

In the second Test, starting from Saturday, 25 January, Paul Reiffel will join Rodney Tucker to perform the on-field duties while Richard Kettleborough will be the third umpire. Pakistan’s Rashid Riaz Waqar, part of the ICC International Panel of Umpires will be the fourth umpire.

The eighth match of the President's Trophy Grade-I got underway today at the HPC Oval Ground in Karachi. Eshaal Associates took on Ghani Glass. Ghani Glass's Tayyab Tahir stole the show with a brilliant 139 off 179 balls, helping his team post 379 all out in 79.2 overs. Saad Nasim (75) and Shahbaz Javed (51) also made significant contributions. Danish Aziz and Nisar Ahmed took three wickets each for Eshaal Associates. The match will resume tomorrow, with Eshaal Associates looking to respond to Ghani Glass's imposing total.

The seventh match of the President's Trophy Grade-I kicked off today at the NBP Sports Complex in Karachi. Higher Education Commission (HEC) took on Khan Research Laboratories (KRL). HEC were bowled out for 137 in 46.1 overs, with Arshadullah taking 5-31 for KRL. Mohammad Qaiser also chipped in with 3-29. In response, KRL reached 99-4 in 35 overs, with Naseerullah Khan unbeaten on 52. The match will resume tomorrow, with KRL looking to take control.

The sixth match of the President's Trophy Grade-I got underway today at the SBP Sports Complex in Karachi. Pakistan Television (PTV) took on State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). PTV struggled to get going, eventually being bowled out for 93 in 43.1 overs. Mohammad Ismail (4-19), Saqib Khan (3-35), and Mohammad Abbas (2-17) shared nine wickets among them for SBP. In response, SBP made a strong start, reaching 136-1 in 37 overs. Imran Butt (63 not out) and Mohammad Saleem (47 not out) put on a 113-run partnership for the second wicket. The match will resume tomorrow, with SBP looking to build on their solid foundation.

The fifth match of the President's Trophy Grade-I kicked off today at the UBL Sports Complex in Karachi. Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) took on Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL). OGDCL's Abdul Rehman Muzammil top-scored with a 142-ball 68, helping his team post 197 all out in 64.5 overs. Mohammad Hamza was the pick of the bowlers for SNGPL, taking 4-33 in 16.5 overs. In response, SNGPL reached 61-2 in 20 overs, with Shahzaib Khan unbeaten on 32. The match will resume tomorrow, with SNGPL looking to build on their steady start.

Warner, Williamson, Joseph and Mitchell to make their debut in HBL PSL 2025

• All six franchises have assembled their squads at the glittering HBL PSL 2025 Player Draft ceremony

• 116 players from 10 countries make up the six HBL PSL franchises’ rosters; HBL PSL 2025 is scheduled to take place between 8 April and 19 May 2025

Lahore, 13 January 2025:

New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell became the first pick of the HBL PSL 2025 player Draft as the two-time winners Lahore Qalandars roped him in to bolster their batting order here at the Huzoori Bagh in Lahore Fort on Monday afternoon. Mitchell, who has played 70 T20Is, will make his HBL PSL debut later this year.

Left handed batter David Warner was pouched by 2020 HBL PSL champions Karachi Kings as they made use of the second pick in the first Platinum round. Warner, with his wealth of experience including 12,727 T20 runs in 392 T20 matches, will also be among the list of notable debutants this season.

Peshawar Zalmi used the Right to Match option for Tom Kohler-Cadmore, who was picked by Quetta Gladiators. Kohler-Cadmore has represented Zalmi for the last four HBL PSL seasons. Gladiators then picked up New Zealand’s Mark Chapman, who has played 81 T20Is in his 10-year long international career and is a dual international as well.

Michael Bracewell and Matthew Short were the last two picks in the Platinum one round as they were gleaned by Multan Sultans and Islamabad United, respectively. Bracewell, an all-format player for New Zealand has played 149 T20s having scored 2744 runs and taken 66 wickets.

29-year-old Short will add to Islamabad’s explosive batting line-up as they look to add a fourth HBL PSL Trophy to their cabinet later this year.

In the Platinum round two, Quetta Gladiators and Karachi Kings had two picks each. Gladiators used their Wild Card pick option to snare all-rounder Faheem Ashraf to their squad.

Aggressive Kiwi opening batter Finn Allen was the other player Quetta picked in this round. Allen, 25, has played 47 T20Is for New Zealan
