ISLAMABAD Welcome to the Sound Archives of Radio Pakistan Islamabad.

It was established in January, 1960 at Karachi as Transcription Service. The main purpose of Sound Archive was to capture sound of Pakistan touching every aspect of activity from culture to the art, industry, agriculture, education and politics. Later, Sound Archives of Radio Pakistan was named as Central Productions. The sub offices of Central Productions are located in Karachi and Lahore. These

units are responsible for the recording of vocal and instrumental music, special feature and musical features on anniversaries and festivals. Central Productions Sound Library has four complete version of Holy Qur’an recited Quaries of international fame alongwith Urdu translation. Special feature, Classical and Semi Classical Music, Folk Music, Concerts, Patriotic Songs, Hamds, Naats, Documentaries, Interviews of renowned personalities. Central Productions is now working on major project of digitization.
