- Is this The Resilience We Need? -
This is not an Ai generated Image. This in fact proves the point that how adapted we have become to our circumstances. This nation has learned to turn any situation into the new normal. In a way it's good but in a lot of ways it's really wrong. Remember the CNG crisis just 8 or so years ago. We use to line up our cars on the fuel stations and wait for hours just to get our tanks filled with CNG because it was a cheaper alternative to petrol or diesel.
Then there was UPS epidemic. Every house had one. Then there were those who could afford generators and now fast forward to NOW, we have solar panels almost everywhere. These are not technological advancements. These are examples of BAD CIRCUMSTANCES forced upon us Pakistanis.
There are many examples like these and I feel it's our reaction to these circumstances that defines us as a nation. Because everytime I see how people line up to ration up themselves in scarcity, how prices go up when there is more demand and how we keep getting the bashing day after day and then there are those who can afford to leave, leave the country instead of standing up for things that we actually deserve as human beings really defines who we are.
This innate behavior to survive that is triggered in our people over decades has made us like that insect that even survived through nuclear bomb.
The big question here is that, is this the life we really have to live? Think about it!

If I were a chief justice of a country 🇵🇰 I would choose some other country to go after retirement. Not the one with most number of fellow country men and that too when I have annoyed so many of them. May be Russia or Poland in Europe but not United Kingdom.

In a country where average income is around 82k PKR i.e. like $293 per month, where GDP per capita is declining to new lows and some car companies are introducing new cars pricing around PKR 18 to 23 million, a company which profited off selling Rickshaws are now selling SUVs worth PKR 11 million or more. And then some companies think launching electric cars would work for them, in a country where electricity is scarce to the Metropolitan cities even.

There must be some research behind all of it by the business development team, there must be investors who were convinced that this would be a good idea. Then there must be calculations made about the market size. Which all indicates that those who can afford these cars are more in number than those who can't. A country who's finance minister is visiting first world countries asking for financial Aid. A country where infrastructure is so weak that since it's inception there is not a single Motorway that connects the country from one end to the other.

This all seems so artificial, fake if you may call it. This is not progress. This is imitation and clearly the average income of the country is calculated wrong. There is lot of money that people have to spend on these fancy cars. The other way of looking at it is that all of this is happening for the elite 2%, the ruling class, the executives, the tycoons, Mr. big boss daddies of the country, while the common folks roll their faces in their f***s every day.

There is a guy who's always awarding something to someone. How do we know that? Because he posts it every time on Linkedin. It's like - Hey you! Congratulations, you did something? here's your gift!!!. Your birthday today? Here you go!. New team member? I also got one for you? Infact Whatever is nearest to him he will just award it to you. One time he awarded his tissue box to someone and posted" Congratulations to my newest team member for this remarkable achievement!" And that tissue box wasn't even new. There were tissues hanging out of it. This part may be not true but it sure seems like it. One time he even awarded a table calender to someone and it was June!!!!. Again may be true may be it's my imagination taking but You getting my point.

He is the best boss I think. It's fun. Keeps the team motivated and energized. What's wrong in spreading happiness? Nothing right?. I guess his wife must be very supportive of him. One time I wanted to award my intern for her remarkable work but for some domestic reasons I couldn't.

I think it has something to do with the age. Older you get it becomes a tradition. Remember that one Dada abbu who always had candies in his pocket. It's was magical like how? What the f**k? Where are a these candies coming from? Is he buying them daily? Or he has a box full of them you never knew. On that note, take care of your loved ones and keep spreading happiness.

Have a blessed weekend.

At What Cost?

Social media platforms are often celebrated as avenues for self-expression. With just a click, a snap, or a record, anyone can share their thoughts, experiences, and creativity. It’s become a universal activity, from preteens to those navigating mid-life crises.

However, amidst this digital freedom, there’s a hidden cost. Major organizations are diligently collecting and storing our data, turning our personal information into a commodity. This data is then sold to better target us with advertisements and offerings, shaping our online experience in ways we often overlook.

For many women, this landscape can be particularly troubling. While they share their lives and talents, a significant portion of their followers may not have pure intentions. Many men use social media to satisfy their desires, leaving inappropriate comments or making unwanted advances in DMs. This reality raises an important question: what is the purpose of self-expression when so many followers are simply there to exploit it?

Moreover, the algorithms that govern these platforms tend to prioritize sensational content—whether it’s bad news or trivial memes—over meaningful discussions. This bias means that many talented artists and intellectuals go unnoticed, while shallow content goes viral. Conversations about wisdom, science, and significant societal issues struggle to gain traction, leaving essential topics in the shadows.

As we navigate this complex environment of sharing and connection, it’s crucial to consider what we’re giving up in exchange for the convenience of social media. Let’s reflect on our digital footprints and the implications of our online presence, recognizing the importance of fostering respectful interactions and elevating the discourse in our communities.

In the shadows where whispers fade,
Voices drown in the choices made.
Dreams linger in the air, unshared,
Echoes lost, a truth laid bare.
Hope dims in the weight of despair,
In the silence, it feels like nobody cares.

“For you”
It’s been quite a while now. They serve us to eat and we are feeding on it. Not knowing if it’s good for our digestive system or not, we are just eating. Something in our brains tells us it’s time so we reach to the cell phone. Tap on those apps and we start. Sometimes it’s few minutes some times it for hours but we are eating. It seems completely normal two or three or four people sitting together and eating right?.
They are called feed for a purpose I suppose. I am talking about our feeds on Facebook, instagram and TikTok. Deny all you want, but you my friend are also doing it. Whether you are a successful business person or a 9 to 5 worker, at least once a day you go on those apps and feed. Completely normal and new normal if you call it.
Now who is deciding what to serve you? Usually you go to a restaurant and ask for your favourite food to eat but not here the feeds are not in your control. Imagine if you order a pizza and waiter serves you candies, cookies and ice cream. Would you eat it?. You might! get excited and end up eating them too but it won’t be what you desired. Our social media feeds are not based on our desires, likes and dislikes anymore, they use to be but slowly over time the ingredients kept changing and now we don’t even realise if we are eating a pizza or candies.
Let me give you some examples. You don’t watch tv serials but everybody else around you is crazy about a particular tv drama and now they are sharing and resharing about it. So you are seeing it too because rest of the people are talking about it. News that does not relate to you or even should be of concern to you end up in front of you. Advertisement of things you don’t want to buy appear in your feed.
Getting the idea? ok keep reading, if you read this far you are a genius! Not an ordinary person. All of social media works on algorithms and data. It’s gathering data from us and deducing what it’s designed to do, and that is to increase the time you spend on those apps.
Our brain releases a chemical that makes us feel good when we see and hear things like music, beautiful places and people. It feels the sense of pleasure in doing it and that’s why you keep doing it or want to do it. In other words you are hooked! Now you can’t go to a concert everyday or travel the world or have a beautiful women or men in your life but you can easily get it easily on social media. Add news of wars, disasters, politics and advertisements to the mix and you have a perfect poisonous concoction to eat.
Simply put algorithms are not doing a good job anymore. It can’t and never will give you what’s good for you individually but it will serve what data tells it to. Our feeds are poisonous now. You still wanna eat poison? You decide yourself!

-Customer is Not Always Right-

“Lanat ho” roughly translated in English means "Damn You" or “be damned”, when you say it to your friends and family is usually laughed at and a funny moment might spark but say that to The chief Justice of Highest court of a country is a different story all together.
Since the humanity inhabited this planet there is always two sides of the story. The good vs evil, the just and the unjust, the emperor, the rulers and the common folks. Usually the One with more power trying to take control over the other both are fighting for the right cause. It’s generally the common folks who don’t know their power because they are led to believe that they are weak and inferior beings. If you see, believes and faith has defined the history of humanity. So an act as small as saying “you be damned” to someone who has superior stature than you in the society is considered an act of bravery and gets applauded. On the other hand this act of bravery won’t change anything except for becoming a headline, because the receiver has his own beliefs and He thinks he is doing the right thing.
It’s like when you are angry at a motorcyclist pacing at almost 80 km/hr in the fast lane like Tom cruise in a movie but he doesn’t know that he is distrupting the whole traffic behind him because to him, he’s going so fast. But there you are behind him cursing “Damn you” get out of the way! You stupid moron.
The guy who was there to buy donuts believed he will have a tasty treat but the guy selling the donuts believed otherwise.
