PSARCHE Conference 2025 Begins in Islamabad
The three-day international conference entitled “Promoting South Asia Regional Cooperation in Higher Education (PSARCHE)”, involving higher education leaders, subject matter experts and policy makers from South Asian region as well as other countries has kicked off in Islamabad today.
Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui was chief guest in the opening ceremony.
Being organized by HEC Pakistan under its World Bank funded Higher Education Development in Pakistan (HEDP) Project, PSARCHE conference is aimed to create a collaborative environment to foster cross-border partnerships, strengthen regional networks, and lay the groundwork for sustainable improvements in higher education across South Asia.
By bringing together diverse perspectives and expertise, the conference will offer value-rich discussions, keynotes, presentations, and visits to high-performing universities of Pakistan that are pioneering the latest Ed-Tech solutions currently available worldwide.

General Syed Asim Munir, NI(M), Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), visited Wana, South Waziristan, today. During the visit, the COAS received a comprehensive briefing on the prevailing security landscape and ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
Interacting with officers and troops, the COAS commended their unwavering resilience and steadfastness in the face of terrorism, reaffirming the nation’s pride in their sacrifices. He emphasized that the martyrs (Shuhada) are the pride of Pakistan, and their sacrifices will never be forgotten. With the resolute support of the nation, the Pakistan Army, in collaboration with law enforcement agencies (LEAs), remains steadfast in its determination to eliminate terrorism and extremism in all its forms, ensuring the restoration of lasting peace and stability across the country, Insha’Allah.
The Army Chief highlighted that the courage, resilience, and unyielding determination of Pakistan’s armed forces are the cornerstone of the nation’s sovereignty. He described the soldiers of the Armed Forces and LEAs as the true heroes of the nation, whose bravery and selfless dedication inspire the entire country.
COAS reaffirmed Pakistan Army’s commitment to pursuing Fitna Al Khwarij which shall continue to be hunted down till its elimination along with the facilitator, abettors and financier who will be made to pay the price for their nefarious activities against the state.
Upon his arrival in Wana, the COAS was received by the Corps Commander Peshawar.
ISLAMABAD: (PR: Dated, December 21, 2024): Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa, along with the Member Engineering and relevant officers, visited the Serena Interchange and Jinnah Avenue Interchange project sites on Saturday.
During the visit, the relevant authorities gave a detailed briefing to the Chairman CDA regarding the ongoing construction work on the projects.
During the briefing, it was apprised that the underpass at Jinnah Avenue Interchange has entered the final stages of its completion in record time. The underpass of this project will be opened for traffic after the inauguration of the underpass on December 24, 2024. The Chairman was also briefed on the preparations for inauguration of the underpass at Jinnah Avenue.
Additionally, it was mentioned that the carpeting work of the underpass road is also near to its completion.
Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa directed that beautification work on the underpass should commence before the inauguration. He appreciated the performance of the relevant staff and workers for completing the underpass ahead of schedule.
During his visit to the Serena Interchange project, he was also given a detailed briefing. It was highlighted during the briefing that the construction work is going on simultaneously at all sections of the Serena Interchange project. It was mentioned that the obstacles affecting the pace of construction work of the Serena Interchange underpass are being removed with great efforts.
Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa stated that by continuing construction activities 24/7, all obstacles should be cleared promptly, while maintaining high standards in all activities. He further emphasized that consultants and resident engineers should ensure timely completion of the construction work on-site.

PMU for Rawalpindi Ring Road Project Not Shut Down: DG RDA
RAWALPINDI, December 5, 2024: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has informed that the Project Management Unit (PMU) for the Rawalpindi Ring Road project has not been shut down. In response to a shortage of staff within the PMU, the RDA has implemented proactive measures to ensure the continued progress of the project.
The Director General of RDA, Kinza Murtaza said that additional responsibilities have been assigned to RDA officers to manage the PMU effectively, preventing any delays in the execution of the Ring Road project. This strategic decision was made to ensure the project’s timely completion, which is essential for enhancing infrastructure and alleviating traffic congestion in the region.
To further bolster the PMU’s capacity, the Secretary of Housing has been formally requested to allow the recruitment process to hire staff to support the project’s implementation.
The Rawalpindi Ring Road project, a key initiative aimed at improving connectivity and reducing traffic congestion, is moving forward with full dedication and support from RDA leadership, she added.
