آج سے ٹھیک 12 سال قبل اسی تاریخ کو ہم نے پاکستان کی ایک جیتی جاگتی ٹیلنٹ کو کھو دیا تھا۔ کم عمری میں ہی اس نے اپنی غیر معمولی صلاحیتوں سے دنیا کو حیران کر رکھا تھا۔ اس لڑکی کا نام ارفع کریم ہے جو بچپن سے ہی جنئیس سمجھی جاتی تھی۔

پاکستان میں، وہ 9 سال کی عمر میں ایک ماہر کمپیوٹر کے طور پر مشہور تھیں۔ لیکن پھر 2004 میں مائیکروسافٹ نے باضابطہ طور پر اس لڑکی کو، جو پہلے ہی کئی ایوارڈ جیت چکی تھی، "مائیکروسافٹ سرٹیفائیڈ پروفیشنل" کے طور پر نامزد کیا۔ اس کا مطلب یہ ہے کہ مائیکروسافٹ سوفٹ ویئر کے لیے اسے بطور ماہر کام کرنے کی اجازت ہے۔

صرف 9 سال کی عمر میں، یہ چھوٹی سی لڑکی دنیا بھر کے سینکڑوں سافٹ ویئر ماہرین میں سب سے کم عمر تھی۔ 2006 میں اسپین میں ہونے والے ایک مائیکروسافٹ کانفرنس میں ان کی غیر معمولی صلاحیتوں اور عظیم کارناموں کے لیے انہیں اعزاز دیا گیا۔

لیکن ارفع صرف کمپیوٹر کی ماہر نہیں تھیں بلکہ صرف دس سال کی عمر اس نے پائلٹ کا لائسنس بھی حاصل کر لیا۔
2005 میں بل گیٹس نے ذاتی طور پر انہیں کمپنی کے ہیڈکوارٹر میں مدعو کیا۔

کچھ عرصے بعد اسے epileptic seizure ہوا، جس سے دل کا دورہ بھی پڑا۔ وہ لاہور کے ایک ہسپتال میں کوما میں پڑی رہیں۔

اس کا دماغ بہت زیادہ ٹوٹ پھوٹ کا شکار ہو چکا تھا اور وہ صرف 16 سال کی عمر میں انتقال کر گئیں۔

پورا پاکستان سوگوار تھا۔
اور دنیا اس ابھرتے ہوئے ستارے سے ہمیشہ کے لیے محروم ہوگئی.
