Tandojam (Press Release) - Dr. Allah Wadhayo Gandahi has been appointed as the Acting Chairman of the Soil Science Department at Sindh Agriculture University (SAU), Tandojam.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Fateh Marri has appointed Dr. Gandahi, a professor in the Soil Science Department at SAU, to the position following the retirement of the former Chairperson, Dr. Mehr-un-Nisa Memon.

An official notification regarding Dr. Gandahi's appointment has been issued.

TANDOJAM (16th Oct, 2023) The management of Sindh Agriculture University and experts of USAID Higher Education System Strengthening Activity (HESSA) have urged to make the faculty development programme more effective through international experts and institutions to improve the teaching quality of the country's universities under USAID-funded programme.

They expressed these views in a meeting held between the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Fateh Marri and HESSA Chief of Party Dr Aslam Chaudhry held on Monday.

The Vice Chancellor said that after a long time, the training of university faculty, deans and related staff is being carried out through the University of Utah, USA. Such market-oriented training events are being organized as per the innovative changes in the world, he said.

Dr. Marri emphasized that trained experts should have to support their colleagues at their respective universities. They should also schedule a monthly meeting to understand the consequences, find new ideas and review future planning, he suggested.

The HESSA Chief of Party Dr. Aslam Chaudhry said that the project has invested US$ 19 million to increase the number of serviceable graduates and enhance capacity building of faculty.

He also informed that the project is focusing on educating Pakistan's higher education institutions on how to implement strategies and better systems. Dr. Chaudhry expressed hope that the training would be useful and help expand research and development.

During a presentation on quality improvement and training in various fields on behalf of HESSA, Dr. Chaudhry provided detailed information on the project's initiatives.

Tandojam, (Press Release - 17th Oct, 2023) Eminent educationists and experts have emphasized that university professors should be allowed to work as consultants in international and national organizations to enhance the economic conditions of the country and capacity-building of the graduates.

They also suggested that Pakistan Engineers Council (PEC) should enhance financial support to agricultural engineers for developing innovative startups and small-scale machinery projects.

They stated this on Tuesday at Sindh Agriculture University Tando Jam while addressing the cheque distribution ceremony of financial support to agricultural engineers for startups of their successful ideas. The financial support was funded by the Pakistan Engineers Council (PEC).

The Vice Chancellor Sindh Agriculture University Dr. Fateh Marri said that agricultural engineers can work better on various ideas including food security, irrigation, land preparation and small agricultural machinery.

Despite 7,000 agricultural engineers registered in the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), he said that BE (Agri) degree has been neglected in various institutions.

He said that university professors should be recognized as in-service consultants as they can give better results for domestic and foreign institutions and their experiences will be useful for the practical life of students.

Engineer Mir Masood Rashid Advisor to Chairman Pakistan Engineering Council said that nowadays even Tik-tokers are earning more than engineers and the engineers of the country are decreasing based on quality and quantity. We need to go to the school level and motivate the students to prefer science and engineering for their bright future, he emphasized adding that agricultural engineers will develop new ideas and PEC will provide them financial support.

Engineer Mahfooz Ursani, the member of PEC said that due to globalization, there was a huge competition in the world. The developed countries are offering grants for new projects at the global level and there are unlimited opportunities for our youth abroad, he said and added the youth of neighbouring countries are part of this competition.

"We will establish a PEC advisory desk in Sindh Agriculture University to motivate the youth.” he informed.

The Dean, Faculty of Agricultural Engineering Dr. Altaf Siyal gave a briefing about the projects prepared by agricultural engineers and said that the degree in agricultural engineering should be given importance and the advantage of their skills should be taken.

Hassan Ali Khan Durrani of Isra University Hyderabad and others also spoke on this occasion.

زرعي يونيورسٽي ٽنڊوڄام جو پروفيسر سيد علي حيدر شاھ انٽامالاجسٽ , لاڏاڻو ڪري ويو. ٽيچرس ايسوسيئيشن سميت سموري يونيورسٽي ۾ ڏک جو سما. خبر موجب زرعي يونيورسٽي ٽنڊوڄام جو ايسوسيئيٽ پروفيسر سيد علي حيدر شاھ 55 سالن جي ڄمار ۾ لاڏاڻو ڪري ويو. جنھن جي تدفين سندس اباڻي شھر ڪراچي ۾ ڪئي وئي. مرحوم پروفيسر جي مغفرت لاءِ دعا پڻ ڪئي وئي ان موقعي تي سائوٽا جي صدر ڊاڪٽر فھد نظير کوسو جو چوڻ ھو تہ مرحوم پروفيسر شاھ صاحب جون خدمتون ڊپارٽمنٽ آف انٽامالاجي ۾ تمام گھڻيون ھيون ھن جي وڃڻ سان زرعي يونيورسٽي ھڪ بھترين انٽامالاجسٽ کان محروم ٿي وئي, جيڪو خال ڪڏھن به ڀرجي نٿو سگھجي. ھو ھڪ سٺي استاد سان گڏوگڏ ھڪ بھترين انسان ۽ يارن جو يار پڻ ھو ھن جون يونيورسٽي جي تدريس ۽ تحقيق لاء ڪيل خدمتون ھميشه ياد رکيون وينديون. اسان ھن ڏک جي گھڙي ۾ وارثن سان گڏ آھيون.
