HISTORY
Spreading over 28,000 sq miles (73,000 sq km) in the Northern Region of Pakistan well known today as Gilgit – Baltistan was formed by the amalgamation of the former Gilgit Agency, the Baltistan District of the Ladakh Wazarat, and the hill state of Hunza and Nagar. Consisting of nine districts and population of more than 2 million Gilgit – Baltistan is administratively divided into

two divisions which in turn are divided into nine districts. The principal administrative centers are the town of Gilgit and Skardu. Sharing borders with China, Afghanistan, and India the region is a fast emerging hub of trade, commerce & tourism and is contributing towards economic growth and expansion of business activities in Pakistan. FM-99 Gilgit & Skardu are privileged to be the only privately licensed and independent radio stations in the area currently. Through a diversified range of entertainment and infotainment programs FM-99 has managed to cater to all tastes and shades of population of the region capturing a wide listenership both in rural and urban areas. Besides on-air transmission in Gilgit Baltistan, FM-99 is heard all over the world through internet live streaming.
