Hunza, June 5, 2025 –
In a remarkable display of environmental commitment and civic engagement, Ismaili Civic Pakistan – Hunza Region, in collaboration with key partner organizations, successfully commemorated World Environment Day 2025 under the global theme "Ending Plastic Pollution."
The event was held in partnership with the District Administration Hunza, Karakoram Area Development Organization (KADO), World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), Hunza Serena Hotel, Aga Khan Higher Secondary School Hunza, Forest Department District Hunza, and Offto Resort Karimabad. The day’s activities spanned across two prominent venues: Hunza Serena Hotel and KADO Hall, Hyderabad Hunza.
Bringing together a diverse group of participants — including students, government officials, civil society representatives, and concerned citizens — the event aimed to foster awareness and drive collective action against the growing threat of plastic pollution.
Key activities included:
• Awareness sessions on the environmental and health impacts of plastic waste
• Pledge-taking by participants to reduce plastic use
• Interactive discussions on sustainable alternatives and community-led advocacy for policy reform
