The government has announced to provide free laptops to one lakh students under the Prime Minister's Scheme.
Shiza Fatima, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Youth Affairs, said that free laptops would be provided to postgraduate and PhD students while laptops would be distributed among meritorious students from first year to fourth year.
Shiza Fatima said that priority would be given to high performing students while the scheme would also have a quota for special persons and women.
Free laptops will soon be distributed to one lakh youth of government universities and colleges, high quality laptops will be provided to the youth on merit, these laptops will be provided to all Harp HD and post graduate students while Laptops will also be provided to young people who perform well in undergraduate programs.
The quota for students of Balochistan has been doubled in the laptop scheme while the quota has also been allotted for students with disabilities. The quota for women in the laptop scheme has been allotted 50%.
Shiza Fatima said that education needs to be provided to the youth as per the needs of modern times. Work is also underway to formulate National Youth Employment Policy under the Prime Minister's Youth Program
