Today, August 26, we honor the heroes who sacrificed their lives for our country's freedom.

As we celebrate National Heroes Day, we also recognize our modern-day heroes—overseas Filipino workers, healthcare providers, construction workers, laborers, safety officers, street vendors, and public transportation personnel—whose dedication and compassion are the true pillars of our nation. Their actions remind us that heroism lives on in the everyday lives of ordinary people.

Today marks the 41st anniversary of the assassination of Benigno 'Ninoy' Aquino. His death at the Manila International Airport in 1983 was a pivotal event leading to the People Power Uprising of 1986.

In Proclamation No. 665 signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on August 15, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. rescheduled the observance of Ninoy Aquino Day from its traditional date of August 21 to August 23 to promote domestic tourism by creating a longer weekend for the public.

𝗜𝗖𝗬𝗠𝗜: The Senior High Class Organization (SHCO) held a second screening for the hip-hop competition this upcoming intramurals last August 19.

Guest choreographers, Nigel Justin Quiero and Daniel Delute, were invited to teach and evaluate the aspiring dancers.

After the evaluation, 15 dancers were chosen to represent the legion of Exemplars in the said competition.

To recognize individuals for their dedication and service, Saint Paul School of Professional Studies (SPSPS) honored the Years in Service Awardees during the Pearl Anniversary Night at the Mary Ngo Auditorium on August 16.

This year, 12 employees received the Years in Service Award. Isiah Dan G. Avorque, Dave Paulo S. Batula, Ma. Louila A. Cinco, Janelle Pamela G. Pedrero, and Jiejie L. Yaranon were recognized for 5 years of service. Mercy B. Alcala and Victor R. Cabantac received the 10 Years in Service Award.

Rhea Margarita S. Garcia, Ma. Celina A. Yu, and Dean Lowe S. Taña were honored for 25 years of service, while Leonor A. Abeto and Atty. Eric De T. Veyra were celebrated for 30 years of service.

Additionally, SPSPS awarded the Pearl Award to friends of SPSPS in recognition of their continued support for various institutional projects and events over the years.

Nag-uwi ng apat na medalya ang Pilipinas, bunga ng dugo at pawis na ibinuhos ng ating mga manlalaro upang makapag-uwi ng karangalan sa ating bansa.

𝗜𝗖𝗬𝗠𝗜: Representatives from different legions perform in the Literary Music Vocal Solo and Duet competition, held alongside the Pre-pageant of Mr. and Miss Saint Paul 2024 at the Mary Ngo Auditorium last August 13.

The Legion of Exemplars, Legion of Guardians, Legion of Marvels, Legion of Virtuous, and Legion of Ardents showed their talents in rhythm and harmony, which raised high spirits for their respective legions.

Furthermore, the announcement of winners will be made during the Students' Night, according to the point person of the event.

LOOK: The reigning Mr. and Miss Saint Paul 2023 titleholders, along with this year’s candidates, participated in a gift-giving activity at Salvacion Elementary School in Palo, Leyte, on August 14.

Continuing the longstanding commitment to community outreach, the 2023 pageant winners and present candidates came together to distribute school supplies and packed meals to the elementary students.

Mrs. Irene A. Noblejas, Officer-in-Charge of Salvacion Elementary School, expressed heartfelt gratitude, acknowledging the donations' positive impact on the students.

The gift-giving activity was organized by the Paulinian Student Government in collaboration with the SPSPS Office of Student Affairs.
