El Nido 2023 Island Hopping - Shimizu Island Part 1
https://youtu.be/ZbnfcTXW9Ts
The dramatic El Nido limestone cliffs is a line of swaying coconut trees and a long stretch of fine white sand that has become 7 Commandos Beach’s familiar face. The beach is part of El Nido’s Tour A island-hopping option, including Big Lagoon and Small Lagoon.
One can’t help but become intrigued by how the beach got its name. One story says that during World War II, seven soldiers got stranded here. Another says that Seven Commando was the name of a massive fishing vessel that got left in El Nido waters, and the passengers decided to make this island their home. They stayed here for three months, and when their boat was finally repaired, they sailed back home. Later on, the locals found a colossal stone carved with the words “Seven Commando.”

The famous Big Lagoon in El Nido is one of the most visited places in Palawan, considered by many as the best island in the the province. It boasts some of the most dramatic limestone rock formations on the whole island, on a scale unmatched by anything else youd find in the Philippines. The landscape surrounding the lagoon is a treat in itself.
Neither words and photos alone can justify the sheer beauty and magic of Big Lagoon. The experience of being there and witnessing the majestic views is the only way to describe the experience accurately.
Your boat will stop outside the lagoon, and you will have to rent a kayak to enter the lagoon. The kayak will cost you around 300 Pesos for about an hour. Your boat will give you life jackets thats included in your Tour A cost.
Once you enter the lagoon, there are crystal clear shallow waters, and one can quickly get off the kayak and have fun in the water.
The lagoon is as big as the name suggests. There arent many places in El Nido where you can explore a cave (with a kayak) inside a lagoon.

Shimizu Island is one of the numerous ones dotting El Nido’s Bacuit Bay. This small island had become a popular spot for snorkeling because of its colorful marine life. It’s part of the Tour A island-hopping package and an alternative stopover spot for lunch, so it can get a bit crowded here during midday.
The Japanese-sounding name makes one wonder about the island’s origin. According to guides and boatmen, a group of scuba divers explored the waters of El Nido decades ago, and one of them didn’t make it back from a deep underwater tunnel. Days were spent searching for the diver’s body until it was found on an island with imposing rock formations and fine white sand. The deceased diver’s last name was Shimizu, and the island was later named after him.

The ruins can be found in Brgy. Culasi, Sitio Nipa in Roxas City, Capiz. Based from the information we gathered, the ruins are remnants of the supposedly resort to be built by Bermejo family. Unfortunately, it was unfinished and abandoned.
The place is naturally weathered and tested by time giving it a surprisingly ancient vibe. Not to mention it stands just near the beach. On the other hand, the gigantic walls for us are comparable to that of Attack on Titan anime featuring the walls – Wall Maria, Wall Rose and Wall Sheena.
