Rafael “Popoy” Cusi, known as the "master watercolorist of his generation” stands out, not just because of his exemplary talent, but also because of his choice of medium. For him, Europeans have oil paint and Americans have acrylic, while we Asians have ink and watercolor.
A native of Bongabong, Oriental Mindoro, Popoy was heavily influenced by his father Lucas Cusi who was also a painter himself. A commissioned mural that he did for a Peace Corps volunteer while he was still in high school led him to Philippine Women’s University (PWU) where he took up Fine Arts and further honed his skills in painting.
Aside from the Khan Scholarship grant, Ford Foundation tour grant, and a Zarzuela grant, Popoy has won several prestigious awards including the “European Art for Environment Award” for his book “The Philippine Watercolor Reefs in Watercolor by Cusi” which was endorsed by the United Nations and the Smithsonian Institute in 1997.
Being one of the few Filipino watercolorists, Popoy attributes his ability to focus as his secret for conquering what is known to many as a “difficult medium to handle”. His deep pride in his heritage is what also propels him to continue mastering watercolor and painting in his motherland despite being offered the chance to live in Europe. Catch him soon

Jecky Alano has been a long-lost hermit from the art world, hidden nine kilometers from the center of the city of Bacolod. He is a surrealist sculptor, president of Dagway-Bacolod, member of Manikang Putik, and board director of the Art Association of Bacolod-Negros. He stretched his vision and evolved from painting to metal engravings, to sculpting terra-cotta, where he created the character "Inday," a naked fat lady in Filipiniana style.

Roedil “Joe” Geraldo is a multimedia artist from Talisay, Negros Occidental.
His art journey is varied and speaks of a life that is uniquely his own. A former Architecture major who shifted to Fine Arts, he worked as a helper in construction sites, designed for a t-shirt factory, and painted on stones in Dumaguete. He is more popularly known for his extraordinary take on the arts. In fact, he could very well be considered our very own “enfant terrible” for his penchant for creating shocking, unusual, and valorous pieces steeped in social realism. Additionally, the manner by which he creates his terracotta sculptures earned him “infamy” among folks in Bacolod for using termite droppings culled from termite hills or what local folks believe as “nuno sa punso” or dwarf dwellings.
In 2005, Joe earned Third Prize in the Sculpture Competition of the 1st Dumaguete Open Biennial Terracotta Art Festival in Dumaguete City. He was also a Finalist in the Philippine Art Awards National Competition in 2008. His solo shows were: “Life, Syano” in Artlink, Paranaque in 2005 and “Human Salokat” in Ysobel Gallery, Taguig in 2014. He continues to participate in group exhibitions in Bacolod and Metro Manila and is still very much living his best life, creating art unencumbered by trends and fuelled by his desire to share his talent through his works and workshops where he is able to teach the next generation of Visayan artists.

Celso Duazo Pepito (born 1956) earned a Fine Arts degree from the University of the Philippines Cebu in 1981. Martino Abellana, known as the "Dean of Cebuano Artists," inspired Pepito to become an impressionist-realist painter. Pepito, on the other hand, gradually moved to his own kind of Cubism around 1994.
When viewing Pepito's artworks, one recognizes two recurring motifs: the three planar divisions used as backdrops for his figurative subjects and the sun octagon. These depict the artist's three main messages: love of God, love of family, and love of country.
Pepito's painting expresses his deep spirituality and dedication to a lifelong mission through his art. He is a firm belief that positive social change begins in the family, which is why his works consistently represent family values and traditions, as well as a sense of nationalism exemplified by characters striving for self-reliance and dignity through hard work and labor.
With a reputation for using cubic simplicity in the creation of his works, honest sincerity is a crucial component in the internal dynamics of Pepito's art - art that strives to give hope, inspire, educate, and empower.
