Opening of the Philippine National Railways Lucena-San Pablo Commuter Line San Pablo City, Laguna June 25, 2022
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte leads the formal opening of the Philippine National Railways (PNR) Lucena-San Pablo Commuter Line in San Pablo City, Laguna on June 25, 2022.
The President, accompanied by officials from the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and PNR, inspects the pre-positioned train and proceeds to the ceremonial ringing of bells, signaling the resumption of operations of the PNR Lucena-San Pablo Commuter Line.
The 44-kilometer inter-provincial commuter railway connects Lucena City in Quezon Province to San Pablo City in Laguna with a travel time of one hour and 30 minutes. It will have two (2) terminal stations and four (4) flag stops in-between, and is envisioned to provide comfortable travel experience to Filipino commuters.
The PNR Lucena-San Pablo Commuter Line is part of the 560-kilometer PNR Bicol Express that links the National Capital Region (NCR) or Metro Manila to Southern Luzon. It is projected to be operational by 2027 with 35 stations traversing through Metro Manila and the provinces of Batangas, Laguna, Quezon, Camarines Sur, Albay and Sorsogon.

PART II: President Rodrigo Roa Duterte witnesses the lowering of the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) of the country’s first-ever Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP) at the MMSP Compound in Barangay Ugong, Valenzuela City on June 12, 2022.
During the event, President Duterte views the lowering of the TBM cutter head from the view deck and witnesses a Philippine National Railways (PNR) train in operation en route to the Philippine Railways Institute Training Center for an inspection of the train simulator, mock-up train and pantograph.
The MMSP is the Philippines’ first underground railway system and one of the monumental projects under the Build, Build, Build Program of the Duterte Administration. Construction of the MMSP Phase 1 is ongoing and will have 13 underground stations traversing six (6) cities in the National Capital Region (NCR). These include Valenzuela City, Quezon City, Pasig City, Makati City, Taguig City and portions of Parañaque City.
It will further extend to the north and south of Metro Manila and is expected to provide convenient mass transportation to all Filipino commuters once finished.

The Nayong Pilipino Foundation (NPF) holds a Roundtable Discussion in celebration of Pride Month at the National Library of the Philippines in Ermita, City of Manila on June 10, 2022.
The discussion aims to explore the rich history of LGBTQIA+ in the Filipino culture and intends to shed light on pre-colonial practices within indigenous communities that involve members of the group. It also serves as an avenue for the NPF to gather insights on gender sensitivity while raising awareness on the complex history of the LGBTQIA+ community.
